This was passed down to me. I can find very little information on this old war horse on the internet. Is there anyone in here who has some insight on this type of rifle? I do know it was purchased in Morocco a long time ago. There are no markings of any kind. This thing has been through hell.

If it's Moroccan there won't be any identifying marks. It was probably built in someone's metal shop with a forge, a hammer and a file long before breech loaders were common in Europe.

The thing about Moroccans is they have a long history of fabricating things out of metal. When I was stationed there the maintenance of our vehicles was top notch due to the Moroccan machinist and mechanics that worked in our maintenance facility. If they had a metal lathe, a torch, a hammer and a file they could build a part. You might not want it in your Chevy but it usually worked. A good thing because the parts supply chain was almost non-existent. We waited weeks for engine parts which sometimes never arrived. Plan B was just fabricate it.

Not just Morrocan but some sort of Arabic/Turkish jezail

It started life as a "trade musket". These were cheap mass produced flintlock and later percussion musket/shotguns used for trade with indigenous peoples in the various colonies.

Rebuilt several times no doubt over its long service to suit the owners ideas on what a rifle should look like.
