I own and regularly shoot, a Garand, a Mosin, a US rifle of 1917 AKA Enfield, a .30 M1 carbine, an 8mm K98 Mauser from 1938, an M4gery, AND - - - - - - a Swiss K31.
Of the lot, the K31 has easily and by FAR the best trigger. It and the the '17 Enfield are equal in accuracy and well better than any of the others. The quality of construction of the K 31 is FAR superior to any of the others.
My impressions of the lot - - -
The Mosin is functional, durable and quite simple. It has battlefield accuracy and excellent power. It is roughly made and not functionally elegant.
The Mauser is functional, durable, well made and of excellent design. Battlefield accuracy and excellent power.
The Garand is functional, durable fairly well made, moderate accuracy and excellent power.
M1 Carbine, is light, handy, durable with a horrible trigger, barely adequate power and is rather cute.
1917 Enfield is STRONG, has good sights, very accurate, a bit heavy and shoots a
powerful round.
The K 31 Swiss is elegantly designed, fairly strong, very accurate, has an EXCELLENT trigger, beautifully made and fires a powerful round.
As far as power is concerned, the 8mm Mauser, 30-06 Enfield, Garand & the 7.5X55 K 31 are roughly equal with the .30 M1 carbine, way behind.
So there's my opinion FWIW.
