Knoxx Axiom V/S rifle stock question

my fav rifel, a .300 Win Mag with a 28' HS Precision barrel, a M700 action with a oversized bolt knob, McMillan Versa bipod, a 5-15x50mm scope, and a Knoxx Axiom V/S rifle stock. when i got the stock, it said the internal springs have a 40,000+ round life expectancy and should not require replacement.

now, i love my rifle, and i have put (at very least) 85,000 rounds through it. i have replaced the barrel once, but other than that, i have done nothing to it. the recoil (none; i can put the butt on my chest and fire the gun. for proof go to knoxx.com) had doubled.

i paid $589.95 for the stock and dont want to do that again, so is ther anyway i can buy JUST a spring(s)? please help!
 
Why don't you send an email to Knoxx? They have pretty good CS from what I hear...give it a try. They may offer to rebuild the stock for you for free or cheap, or send you the parts to do so...
 
It is impossible as a matter of physics for the recoil to be "none". By by saying that it "doubled", I guess you mean that "none" is "some", and it went to "some x 2". But I'd agree, call or write to Knoxx and ask them - they should help you out. That is an awful lot of rounds.....that's 10 boxes of shells (200 rounds) a week, every week for 8 years. Or, 20 boxes of shells (400 rounds) a week, every week for over 4 years. Or some other combination...wow.

yeah, just a figger of speach. hardly anything. like shooting a .223.

i love my .300. i have had it for three years. lucky me, i have land in the bayou, so i dont need a range so much.

You're joking right? 85,000 rounds, 2 barrels, 11 years?

Ya, 4 boxes a day was unrealistic, now you say you shoot about 1 box a day? And you weren't worried about a "little" wear because you "only" shoot to 700 yards. You are either joking or don't know what you are saying. 40,000 rounds of .300 win mag is more than a little wear. 700 yards with a barrel that worn would not produce any amount of accuracy.
 
not to mention you would have spent any where from $25,000 to $90,000 on ammo (wide range since you didn't state if you reload or not) and are gonna gripe about wearing out at stock that costs less than $600. I've gotta call BS on this.
 
I just read through this guys posts, and they could be true but he apparently has experience with just about everything. If everything he says is true it would be pretty impressive, but I doubt it is.

When someone posts blanket statements about calibers and guns, I tend to stop listening.
 
In comparison to what you have spent already on ammo, a $600 stock is nickles and dimes, friend. That said, call knoxx, they can answer this better than we can.

The problem is Knoxx was recently bought out by Blackhawk and they don't seem very customer friendly. I know of a gunshop that has been trying to order one of these stocks for weeks now. He wonders if they want to make money or what. :confused:

You might try calling Knoxx and ask about the spring rate, it's worth a shot. I doubt if they will have any parts left over, usually all that inventory goes to the new buyer. It looks like a common spring if you can find the spring rate I'm sure a replacement can be found.

IIRC Knoxx used higher rate spings on later models so you might get one slightly stiffer.
 
i gave it to the guy who ordered it for me at the gunstore. he said he would have the spring in a week or two.

i shoot my .300 3-5 times a week, about 25-50 rounds each time. i reload.

hathcock never changed his barrel on he M70 .30-06 untill after he finished his first tour.
 
Out of curiosity

I found this forum since I've been looking for one for myself. I found one that I was actually able to take out of the box and handle and it seemed pretty solid. One thing I did have a question about though is I assumed I would be able to compress the spring some myself just by pulling the fore-end towards myself with it shouldered. It didnt budge. Is this normal behavios or was I holding a defective stock. Are the springs just really that strong?
 
yes, the springs are dat strong. if you shoot a .338 or a .300 Win Mag and feel recoil inbetween a .22 and a .410 ga, you beatter believe those springs are strong. i have 3 of those stocks; one for my .300 Win Mag, one for my son in the same cal, and one in .308
 
Thanks BBM. I'm definitely going to get one as soon as I come up with the cash. The recoil reduction is awesome, but it's as much to me about having the vertical grip, the solid aluminum bedding, and the sweet look of it. Now I just hope Midway doesn't sell out of em before I'm ready to get it :)
 
Regarding his claims about 85,000 rounds of .300 winmag out of two barrels, and, on other threads:

Having taken every possible African game (and I mean every possible game) on trips that would total millions of dollars...

Being a lawyer (with admittedly terrible grammar and spelling)...

Owning a 10mm Browning Hi-power...

Claiming that he know's for a FACT that all M4s and M16s have FOLDING stocks...

Admitting on the airsoft forum that he frequents that no round he has ever fired "from a REAL gun" had a velocity more than 2200FPS...

And all-around trollish activities....

I motion that we take a collective vote on a ban.
