Finally got to shoot it this past weekend with the new stock. Put a few hundred rounds through it. And a few 3" Magnum rounds.

Does help on the recoil. Not as much as Knoxx's claim. Probably closer to 50% reduction.

Shoulder wasn't sore at all. And no tenderness the next day.

My friends all put down their shotguns and only wanted to shoot mine. :)

I noticed was the shotgun sitting a bit lower, so I was hitting a bit high. I compensated for it. Just something I have to get used to.
The slide release will take some practice it hit it with my thumb.
Safety is out of reach, but I don't use it anyways.
I also have to have a good grip on the forearm. First time I fired, the light hit my fingers. No problem after that.

All in all I am happy with it. Just more practice. :)

My shooting partner put a Knoxx on his Rem 870 and we had it at the range this weekend. I took a few shots with it and a few shots (same load) with my old Savage. I realize they are different weapons but I couldn't tell any difference in recoil. I wasn't the only one....he wasn't impressed either.

Weird, all 3 of my friends could tell the difference. Are you sure it wasn't the SpecOps NRS Stock?

The recoil was more of a push than a kick.

When I got my compstock it took me a while to figure out that you have to push into it ever so slightly to actually get any of the benefits from the stock.

At first I was just shooting it like any other shotgun, but when I started to stand a little stiffer, I could really feel the stock working.

I love mine.

Sig357,

Not trying to change the subject, but, can you give us a closer pic of your light setup and tell us a little about it?

I've got a 500 that could use a good light.

Thx...

Looks like a TLR-2, same light I have on my 590.

As for the light hitting your hand, I would recommend maybe mounting it closer to the end of the barrel, and using a remote switch attached to the foreguard.

Like mine:

I don't have the remote switch in this pic yet, but you get the idea.

Dope

That's correct. Its a Streamlight TLR-2 with a Mag Tube Rail Mount 69901.

I thought about that. I even have the remote switch. Just not sure the best way to mount the switch.

After some practice, I am not hitting my hand anymore.

I've had the same experience as the OP with my Knoxx; everyone wants to shoot it! Plinking with a 12 gauge, whoda thunkit?

Coudln't you also rotate it a little to the left, say 4-o-clock, so it's not directly in line with the mag tube and barrel? IOW, does it need to hang directly below the tube?

No kidding. I was asking my friends if they want to go shooting again this weekend. They are still sore. :)

I could move it. I mounted it there so I can turn it on with my index finger.

Love my Knoxx SpecOps

Added that and a few other goodies then bought a pallet of ammo from ammoman in NJ (split with a friend). Have put a couple of thousand rounds down the pipe and she eats anything and everything. Magnum slugs used to be a bitch - now... less of a bitch. Everything in the picture and a full ammo load weighs 12lbs and I can lighten it up right quick.

590A1 20"
Knoxx SpecOps Stock
EOTech 552
Streamlight TLR-2 (took it of the Glock for the pic but have a TLR-1 on the way)
6-round side saddle
Ontario Knife Co M9 bayonet (Zombie stand-off unit)

I love the look of those stocks, and I would love even more to have one. Anyone want to do me a big favor?? If they weren't so pricey, I'd get one in a heartbeat.

Mainsail-

I like that setup. No time to pump another round then just stick the aggressor. Intimidating.

On the mossberg 500 tactical model 50420, it comes from the factory with a collapsable stock.

Does anyone know who makes that stock? I wonder how it compares to the Knoxx. The Knoxx seems to be a very nice stock!

It is an ATI and IMO they are poorly made. The stock rattles and the comb is too high unless you have ghost ring or aftermarket rifle sights. These were my experiences from using one on a 500 and an 870.

I have a Mossberg 500 with the Knoxx Spec Op stock but as i put it on there's a little gap (1mm) where the stock attaches to the gun. Not all the way around, just at the top. Anybody else had that?

I remember the instructions mentioning an o-ring that also needed to be removed.

Note: For Mossberg SpecOps only, remove rubber o-ring from stock bolt. Remove o-ring by inserting ball end allen wrench into hole located on the bottom of the SpecOps Stock. Turn wrench counter clockwise while applying pressure to the bolt with finger. Turn wrench untill rubber o-ring is removed.

Does anyone know who makes that stock?
When I called ATI about the quality of their product not meeting my expections, they told me they had many "big name" firearm manufacturers put their products on in the factory. I was SURPRIZED to say the least. Makes me mad I didnt save and buy the Knoxx

Anybody else had that?
My ATI stock was closer to 3mm-5mm and wobbled.

It was that blasted rubber o ring. I just somehow skipped over that part of the instructions when I was installing it. Fits like a glove now.

Thanks
