I've been looking into glass for my custom build and just want solid glass for 800yds with at least 20x magnification. I've been looking at the Konus M-30 model 7281 6.5-25X44, mil dot illuminated reticle. I have also been looking at the Bushnell 4200 6x24 and the Leupold mark 11 6x18, I just don't know about the 18x for 800yds though. I was wondering if anyone had experience with the Konus model I listed or any Konus scopes at all? Really I would like to save the money and purchase the Konus, but if I can't grasp a good view at that range I would spend the extra money for the other scopes. Suggestions welcome.

Try the Vortex's out. I looked through a Konus and wasn't really impressed, but they are better than Simmons/BSA/Tasco.

The Konus spotting scope is quite nice, but their riflescopes are no better, if quite as good as several other brands in the same price range.

Interesting, I wonder if the Bushnell 4200 and the Leupold mark 2 are much better. The Leupold only has 18x so I'm wondering if it would be good for 800yds.

Where are the scopes in question made? If any are made in a certain large and very densely populated country in the far east then I assure you they're not worth bolting on a rifle.

In my experience Chinese made scopes without exception are optically retarded. In my opinion saying quality chines optics is about as much of an oxymoron as

Good English cooking
Reliable Italian automobile
Tasty Yankee fried Catfish
Laid back Germans
Cool Texas Summers

you get the idea
