Korean 30-06 Ball

I've got a can of the KA headstamped. It came loaded on (flimsy) cotton bandoliers and en-bloc clips. It was $90 shipped. The KA headstamp ammo is corrosive (always packed in enblocs), while the PA headstamp is noncorrosive (comes in 20 round boxes in a can). The PA ammo is about $15 more expensive, but comes with no clips. If you figure in the value of the clips, can, and bandoliers, you're basically getting nearly 400 rounds of .30-06 for $40- a great deal, especially if you're just starting out and need clips (47 of them!). It's supposed to shoot just as well as M2 ball. I'll find out tomorow :D .

I've got 200 hundred rounds of the PA headstamp stuff, but no Garand or any 30.06 rifle at all to shoot it. :(

Maybe the gun show this weekend will hold a find of some sort. Still have my CMP paperwork too.

I've been using some of the PS headstamped through my Danish RG Garand - it has worked flawlessly and been accurate enough to win my class in both the Garand Match and the Alvin York "Rattle Battle" - thanks to that I now have 200rds of Lake City Surplus, so I won't be buying any more Korean for a little while, but I would have no qualms about doing so.....

I've used

PS stamped Korean M2 ball quite a bit and have been satisfied. AIM Surplus had it for $89 shipping included for 400 rds boxed in a 50 cal. can.

I am on my third case of the stuff headstamped "KA" (that comes in M1 clips and bandoleers). If I could easily buy more, I would (don't like to pay shipping).
I am no rifllemen, but I regularly shoot matches that involve shooting steel plates with old battle rifles. At a match last spring everything came together for me on one stage and I hit the plate 5 for 5 at 700 yards using my Springfield (commercial) M1 from slinged prone and "KA" ammo.

I've shot a lot of the PS stuff. Mostly 78 and 79 headstamp. Works fine. Don't accept any 74 headstamps. They have gone kaboom and ruined some Garands.

I have shot about 300 rounds of 30-06 from Korea, and I have no complaints.

I got it pretty cheap, I think $70 with the can. Other than being a bit dirty, no comments.

Watch out for bad lots. There have been 2 garands destroyed by bad lots of korean ammo. The CMP stuff is cheap, not as cheap, but its non corrosive.

I just got abck from the range and fired 120 rounds of KA. It was all fine, a little dirty thats all. I did pick two more cans right at election time. This gives me about 1,000 rounds with enblocs and bandoleers. After I run this stuff through, I'll buy LC from CMP.

I have shot around 800 rounds of both KA and PS headstamped ammo in my Garand. They have functioned flawlessly. I clean both as if they were corrosive.

Stay away from that Olympic junk! Seems hot loaded and always fails to cycle in my gun. :fire:

I have shot them both, KA and PS. I have lots of PS still. It shoots real nice and is not corossive. The KA is. I got it from Wideners for $69 a can of 400.

I've shot some of the PS stuff in my sporterized 1903 Springfield. I was able to hit 6" rocks at about 250 yards pretty consistantly. Seems like good ammo. I understand the KA is corrosive, the PS is not. The folks at AIM said shipping cost goes down as you order more cans.

I've been told that one particular lot of the PS had trouble, not a whole year. I think the lot was 145. There is a thread with the exact lot number on it on surplusrifle.com forum
