Thoughts of a dog walk...To Sphinx or not to Sphinx, that is the question.
Needed clarification. Is the Sphinx subcompact something I would like? Been shooting Glock for sometime; own a 17, shoot friends 19's and have test driven a 26. I am, by no means, faithful to any one brand but dedicated to unrelenting function. This thought influences my decision of my of acquisition of a G19 and modifying it meet my 17 upgrade to combat grade. Which may eventually lead to the a similar price to a Sphinx subcompact.
Why the G19? Once modified, sights, trigger, controls, undercuts etc. it is an impressive combat pistol. According to others, I shoot/run it well. But for an EDC...hmmm too big...kinda, sorta...but not really. ? !
Then the G26? Once modified, sights, trigger, controls, undercuts etc. it is just an OK combat pistol. Shorter radius/barrel gives way to accuracy Great BUG, but combat? Free flowing pinky...not a fan but can live with it; if I hafta.
Sphinx Subcompact? Hmmm...After mods; not far off the price. Tough, I guess so? Never seen anyone do a torture test. (Not gonna be crawlin' in sand nor swamp. If that happens, out will come the 17.) Bigger than a 26; yet smaller than a 19. A good thing. Owners report maintaining reliable patterns, even at distance. Combat worthy? I guess so. Would you, bet your life? A skinny home for my pinky w/o mag extns. Nice!! (Never held one, so...I don't really know?) More rounds than a 26. A good thing. The whole DA/SA thing...like the idea. From the stand point of ND's. But I'm athletic enough/trained enough that it isn't really a problem. One last level before lethal force...makes for good debate; again, I dunno if I would even like the trigger. Would love to test drive one. Can't find any local dealers or ranges within a reasonable distance that have one in the pool. YouTube Guru's seem to like it
Ramblings indeed.
