I did one of my AR's in a camo type pattern. I shot it in olive green aswell as brown. I used Kyrlon Camo spray paint. Ok, here is my question.

I will like to take off the spray paint with out harming the finish. what products out there will be able to take of the krylon? 'Thanks' and I appreciate the reply's:)

Gunscrubber or BrakeKleen should do it. You think you destroyed the finish but wiping it down with oil, CLP, or other lubricant restores it. People used to worry when the Gunscrubber would turn their slide gray. All it takes is to wipe it down (I use a small brush).

Lacquer Thinner

Works well, there is more agressive stuff, like auto paint solvent cleaner. Use with adequate ventilation.

Thanks for the reply's fellas. I have a hardware/automotive store just down the road from my house. guess, I'll be making a stop there tomorrow:cool:

Go to a good autopaint supplier and ask for a product called 'Remove-All'. It is a paint stripper that is used in the aircraft industry to take paint off planes.

You can get it in a 16oz spray can or 5 gal. buckets.

If the AR stocks are plastic check to make sure that the stuff isn't harming them.

KUDOS!

I used brake kleen, man it looks like brand new! took a couple cans to take out the paint. I also used a tooth brush to help scrub the gun. I 'Thank you' all who posted diffrent ways on doing it..:)

Wow great tip guys, just finished de-kryloning my ak and it removed 99% of it. Gasoline also works reasonably well, but there are the obvious environmental and health concerns that using such a solvent would raise.:)
