I am going to buy a holter, belt and some mag holders for USPSA L10. I'd like to get something that would also be legal for SSC matches. I'd don't want to be totally handicapped by this for USPSA, anything that will work well for both?

My current plan is a CR speed belt, probably a kydex holster like a ky tac super hooper adn some non-adjustable mag holders. Anyone who has shot SSC matches care to comment on it's legality?

I was looking on the 1911 society web page and in their equipment stats it says the #1 holster manufacturer used by competitors wasa heinie. Anyone knopw which one?

Define totally handicapped?

You may find Heinie is a holster brand not a manufacturer.

The Heinie D.O.J. Holsters are made by Lou Alessi exclusively for Heinie Specialty Products.
Q: What holsters are legal for the Single Stack Classic?
A: The 1911 Society doesn't have an approved holster list.

Our rules state. Only safe holsters and magazine pouches, on waist level belt, worn behind a line drawn down the center of the shooter's side are permitted. Belt must pass through pant loops or be attached to pants belt by velcro or keepers.
Holsters and magazine pouches designed specifically for competition or to gain a competitive advantage are not in the spirit of the 1911 Society and are not permitted. Holsters and magazine pouches should be designed for continuous daily carry and should be reasonably concealable

I'd suggest comparing that with Section 5.3.4 and the Limited 10 special requirements in the USPSA rule book. If you're not handicapped one way or the other I'll be amazed.

Definition of totally handicapped:
I know I'll take some kind speed penalty if I conform to the SSC type rules because I won't be able to use a ghost or limcat trigger guard holder type holster. I am OK with that handicap. I don't think that it will make that much of a difference since my skill level isn't that high anyway.

On the other hand I wouldn't want to use an IWB which would most definitely slow me down.

I think most holsters will probably work my biggest problem may be whether the CR speed would be considered deigned specifically for competition. I'll probably have to email 1911 society or something.

I'll guarantee you they'll mark the CR Speed as 'competition only'. Any of the good kydex OWB holsters will be fine. KyTac, Comp-Tac, Blade-Tech, G-Code, etc.

I shoot USPSA Lim10 with a KyTac SooperHooper and Comp-Tac single mag pouches. They're all IDPA-illegal as of the new rulebook, but they seem to meet the rule posted above...

A straight-drop kydex belt holster is not appreciably slower than a race holster. Comp-tac, Kytac, Blade-tech, etc. will all do quite well.

The bummer is the pouches. Using angled pouches starting from the belly-button position is seriously advantageous in Lim-10, and I suppose SSC doesn't allow that. I'd look into the Comp-tac "Beltfeed" if it's SSC approved.

Yeah, what Monster said. There is virtually no difference in draw speed between something like a Ghost or CR Speed holster and a decent (or even a cheap) Kydex. Mag position does make a difference.

Any advantage to an adjustable cant vs. the straight drop? I was checking out comp tac and they have a adjustable cant holster that's actually a little cheaper than the locking paddle. Is there any speed advantage to a forward can? Would I technically be breaking 180?
