John Breaux - Traitor from Louisiana

John Breaux (D-LA) is a lying sack of doggie do. After purporting to be a RKBA supporter, he votes for the AWB now that he is retiring and does not need us any more.

In a way, you can. Breaux is endorsing our Congressman, Chris John, to replace him in the Senate. I plan to show my displeasure with Breaux by voting against John in November. David Vitter for US Senate!

I too, am dissapointed to hear that Breaux voted for the AWB. His statements about protecting the RKBA a few years earlier in a mailed letter are apparently false.

I'm suprised at the dislike of Chris John. I thought that he was among the most conservative of all the Democrats in the House, and was the chair of the Blue Dog group. Does anyone have a link to his voting record on gun issues?

........................................................................................................................

John is one of the most conservative Democrats in the House. His voting record on gun issues is perfect. Breaux is one of the most conservative Democrats in the Senate and his voting record on gun issues was perfect before today. Breaux has sold us out with his vote today. He and John are old friends and Breaux has endorsed John.

Birds of a feather flock together. Unless Chris John rebuffs Breaux's endorsement, he owns Breaux's vote for the AWB. Breaux decided not to run and sold us out. Senate terms last six years. I trust Chris John about as far as I can throw him and that's about two years at a time.

What part of our governmental system do you RKBA folks who vote for Democrats not get?

The Democrats are now, and have been - FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS - solidly anti-gun. Never once in that 30 years have they ever wavered from that position. Not once.

How is he a traitor? How?!? He did exactly what people with (D) after their name do at the national level of politics.

Breaux was just one more Dixiecrat dumb*** that baited and switched his (put your favorite epithet here) pro-RKBA constituents at the last minute.

Did you really not see that coming a billion miles away? Because I certainly did. And I'm 1,000,001,850 miles away.

I posted this on another thread, but I'll repost part of it again here for those who don't understand what I'm talking about.
I couldn't possibly care less if some Democrats support the RKBA. What difference does that make in a two party system where the two parties are diametrically opposed in their positions?

Example: Joe Demo is running for congress as a Democrat. Joe Demo is 1000% pro-RKBA. John Unionboy thinks "Hey! Joe is a good guy! He'll even let me keep an AK! I'll vote for Joe!"

Joe shows up in Washington D.C.

They do a head count.

There are more Democrats than Republicans.

Democrats now run Congress.

Democrats decide to ban even more guns!

Joe votes against the ban.

Joe's vote is the equivalent of a drop of spit in the ocean.

Good plan John!

Actions have consequences. IGNORANCE of one's political system and HOW IT WORKS has consequences. Not knowing where a political philosophy will logically take one has CONSEQUENCES.
In this particular case, Breaux's vote wasn't even worth spit! :fire: :cuss: :banghead: :fire:

Breaux, not at fault by himself.

Breaux and all of the other anti-gun Republicans who are not the "true believers" in the Constitution have been outed by this vote. I'm just glad to know who the true friends of gunowners are and who's just paying lip service to keep their jobs. This vote has answered that question.

Senator Larry Craig of Idaho deserves our(gunowners) undying support and grattitude. He carried the torch for us but was undermined from within his own party by disingenuous men and women who do not truly believe in the Constitution. I hope and pray that their constituents remember this in November, when it's time for some of them to be reelected. It is not enough to be a "fair weather" Republican; in doing this they have shown that there is no difference between them and the rest of the gun grabbing leftist Democrats.

Gunowners were betrayed and done in by Judas's within the party, this time; not Democrats.

I'm trying to come to grips with this idea. Breaux will not face the electorate again. In other ways seems to be to the right of his other Democrat cronies. Why? Why does he stick the knife in the gun owners? I can reconcile in my own mind that he falls for the "hunters and sportsman" horsepoop regarding his "interpretation" of the 2A. But still, WHY????? He will not be subject to party dicipline. He will not be offered patronage by some Democrat President. He's not going to be the highly paid head of some VPC/Brady Bunch think tank. Of what possible satisfaction is it to him to vote against what he MUST know are the wishes of his constituency? Landrieu, same state, same party, was obviously concerned with the wrath of the voters, and accordingly, she voted our way up and down the line, against the party. Breaux, who in most other matters is to the right of Landrieu, broke it off in us, even in the final 90-8 vote. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I believe that if Bush is re-elected, Breaux will seek the democratic nomination in 2008. He will run as a "moderate" compared to Hillary who will be viewed as a liberal. He voted for the AWB so that he could be competitive in CA and IL.

Suzi Terell lost to Mary Landrieu in 2002. Suzi is OK, but a little too liberal on a few issues. Her time on the N.O. City Council gave her the metality that the Federal Government should be paying for everything.

He is fishing for a cabinet post in the Kerry/Hitlary administration.

Breaux turned down the Secretary of Energy position in the Bush Administration.

Kerry would never pick Hillary as a running mate. Look for a VP candidate to come from a large southern or midwestern state that Bush narrowly carried in 2000. Bob Graham would be my bet.

M.C., I think you've hit the nail on the head. Breaux has a run for president, on the Democratic ticket, in his future. There's definately something up his sleeve, to be just dropping out, from such a powerful position, without a scandal (that we know of).

Breaux could have voted as he did in revenge against gun owners who he imagined were sort of a thorn in his side when he was in office and had to respect their opinions to an extent.
