Louisiana Governor signed HB 72 on 5/23/14. This bill which takes effect August 1, 2014 will allow those with a valid Permit/License to Carry to carry in places that serve alcohol for consumption on the premises. Louisiana was the last state to make places that served alcohol off limits to those carrying legally. Montana law still does not allow for the “Concealed Carry” of firearms but does allow the “Open Carrying” of firearms in places that serve alcohol. Every state has some different laws (No Bars only Restaurants, Not in the bar area of a restaurant, No consumption Etc) on carrying in places that serve alcohol. Know the laws of the state you are in.

The U.S. District Court of the District of Idaho has a preliminary injunction against the Corps rules banning firearms on Corps property unless legally hunting. Those with a valid permit/license in the state where the Corps property is located can now carry their defensive firearm. Corps Buildings, Dams etc would still be off limits but the Corps ban included all lands the Corps controlled. Forests, Lakes etc that surrounded lakes their dams created. This is only a “Preliminary Injunction” and more hearing will be held. Some are saying it looks promising for us that carry and are stating there is a good chance Corps property will be treated just like National Park Carry. Again it depends on how the court finally rules in more hearings on this Temporary Injunction. Time will tell.

Government has a way of screwing things up. North Dakota has two classes of licenses. Class 1 and 2. The Class 2 does not require as much training. The Nebraska State Police specifically state the Class 2 ND Permit is valid in NE if the person is 21. The NE SP have stated this since NE started honoring other states.

But then the Nebraska Attorney General in a letter (written 2013) to the North Dakota AG states that NE never honored the Class 2 ND Permit and still won’t.

The NE State Police publish the reciprocity listing for the state. I have searched but have never found a listing on the NE AG site. Even the states can’t keep everything straight.

There are many changes in the carry laws coming in a number of states starting July 1 with a few like Louisiana changes coming a little later. Some changes have been added at www.handgunlaw.us to their respective state page with a note on when the new law takes effect. Some can’t be updated until their effective dates.

Thanks , Gary. Louisiana governor also signed HB 1066, relieving CCP holders of NICS checks. Combined with recent change to allow for lifetime Louisiana CCP (still must requalify every 5 years, but no new fee) this is significant.

Derry 1946, It is important but I don't catalog those type of firearm laws reason it didn't get mentioned. I do have a link on the USA Page to a BATF Listing of states that have the exemption. Come July first there are a lot of changes coming in a lot of states. Some are little but some are big.
