I was lucky enough to have occasional access to a winchester model 52 as a youth, and loved the 'ladder' type rear sight. You know, square framework that folded up, with a metal bar across it, with a pinsized hole in it, mounted on a screw to move it up or down, elevation marks on the edge of the frame. Very similar to a creedmore type tang sight.
Now I've got rifles with scopes, but I always enjoyed that type of sight. Also, I have been thinking of getting something from CMP, and the 1903 springfields were of interest (as are the upcoming M1 carbines!) and the other day i saw a drawing of a marine taking long range target practice with a springfield, and it had the same type of ladder sight. Is this going to be found on a stock 1903 springfield? Can I get them as aftermarket for one? Can I get them as aftermarket for your standard remington 700, ruger 77, winchester 70 and the like?
