There may be many here that are past members or still current members of another gun forum called CSP / Jouster 2. I have been a member since 1982. There is much knowledge for old mil surps guns in the subject site/link that came from CSP. Mil Surps don't seem to be as popular as ARs, 6.5 anythings, and more modern firearms. However; if you do have an old mil surp, you might be interested in the subject site. It is not a discussion site; it is a closed reference site; a site that only has information on the care, repair, and feeding of M1, M14, 1911, mil. smallbore and some sporting arms. The information comes from mil armorers, gunsmiths, and many many very knowlwdgeable people. In todays parlance, the site would be populated with "stickies" only.

If you are interested in old mil surps, woddern warriors, you might get a cup of coffee and a sandwich and browse thru it. I do recommend if you find something you like, DOWNLOAD OR COPY it.

The host site, Wayback Machine has lost some info from CSP and what's there now may be lost in the future. I began copying info a long time ago. Glad I did.

Thank you @PWC
The only milsurp I have left is my M1.
I always like to read about them though. Maybe one day I with get me another.

There are only so many mil surps out there they are becoming scarcer, thus more $$$. I believe that is why the younger crowd is going for the newer, less expensive ARs and 6.5 flavors of the day. Thay are easier to accurize right out of the box, less xpensive to shoot, less recoil. They probably didn't get past the civil war in HS history; if it is even being taught anymore, it is revisionist history.

There are some copies and new mfgr mil surps being made, but still better bring a bag of $$$. I believe CMP still sells the 1903 Springfield amd M1 books on the care and feeding of the rifles.

I really get tired reading this kind of comment. I most definitely did, all three times I took it (middle school, highschool and university, I can even name all the professors). Only graduated highschool four years ago.

Anyways, my first couple of guns were milsurps, and I've found everything I need to know about them online, and in a few books. Helped a buddy of mine fix his Hand-me-down M1 Garand after he used modern factory ammo through it, but I don't recall what I used.

That's beside the point, very smart of you to start downloading things off the Way Back Machine. Who knows how much longer that'll be there, could lose more today or tomorrow. Data and computers rot, just like anything else, and it's better to take advantage of what we can save before it's all rotted away.

I'm sorry you didn't appreciate my comment, but I can only judge by my experience with other young people I've encountered.

Maybe Lane's Tips can add more specificity, from true experts, to your library, or not.

@PWC I get it man, it just sucks knowing that this is what most people think of me when I tell them I'm 22. It gets worse when they find out I'm going to a university.

It usually changes after a beer and good conversation. But it's still bothersome having to "prove" myself to people.

I gave it a look, and it was definitely worth it. Gonna print a few things too.

Sorry, BTDT, but that stereotype has been around for many moons. There are always exceptions though, good 4 you!

Two years ago I ran across a High School Junior who had no idea who Adolph Hitler was. All he was taught was we got into a war with Germany and Japan from 41-45 and we won.
