I'm having a custom M4 built this year and am trying to decide between using the LaRue Tactical or Daniel Defense carbine-length tactical rail foreend/handguard. This is the first AR-type rifle I will ever have owned, so it goes without saying that I don't know squat about custom and/or after-market components/accessories for them. And that's why I'm asking.

either one would be great. larue is top quality stuff, and they are the head of the pack in ar accessories imho.

Oh great (LOL)! LaRue 1, Daniel Defense 1. Thanks for the feedback, fellas.

I am going to bet it's going to be a heavy tilt toward LaRue, he has an almost fanatical following, I have seen nearly entire rifles that are purchased from his website.

Both are good products, I like the lighter weight of the DD rails, and I don't like LaRue's personality on message boards. But product wise it's like comparing Glock, Sig, or Hk and asking which is better.

Nice rig, H2O! Very nice!

PPGMD, I appreciate your clearly honest remarks on this matter. I feel you on being put off by Mr. LaRue, too. He's just one of those guys who thinks he holds ALL the knowledge about certain matters relating to tactical rifles. But it's like you so honestly convey in your comments above: Who really cares about anything aside from whether the vendor/manufacturer has the 'right' product for one's purposes.
