LASER Bore Sighter

I had a thought that it might be possible to remove the striker assembly and sight through the firing pin hole in the breech face. I might need to use a fiber optic to get close to the firing pin hole. It probably wouldn't be much different than looking through a peep sight.
This is exactly how I zeroed my M&P M2.0 9mm Compact. This technique worked perfectly, it'll hit bullseye at 25 yards when you do your part.

I think you'll be better served in this situation with a basic pistol bench rest.

I just ordered that pistol rest along with other other gun parts.

My next range trip will primarily be for sighting in my P365 and P365XL. While I do plan to replace the sights, I want a baseline of the performance of both pistols before I change the sights or ammunition.

I'm seriously considering changing from 115 gr ammo to 124 gr +P ammunition. As I live in MinneSnowta where people wear multiple layers of clothing, a 124 gr bullet with a +P load might help overcome the issue of multiple layers of clothing. Also, with the 3.1" P365 barrel, the +P load would help compensate for the reduced muzzle velocity of the short barrel.

I'm also considering copper bullets. Then there is the issue of which ammunition will be the most available. The 124 gr +P Nato cartridges that I was considering are no longer available from my LGS. It's looking more and more like I'll need to order the ammunition that I want.

The Caldwell pistol rest arrived today. It's a little bit more flexible than I would like, but it was also only $27.00.

I've given up on the idea of trying to bore sight my pistols by eye. The barrels are just too short for any accuracy. I'm not opposed to buying a LASER bore sighter, but I'd like to find one that doesn't have so many bad reviews. I get the impression that the quality control and accuracy isn't very uniform with most of these LASER bore sighters.

I also ordered a sight pusher. Time will tell whether it is actually a sight pusher or a sight pusher shaped object.

I'm not expecting any problems with the P365XL sights. But my P365 fell out of the crappy Sig holster, that came with the P365 TacPac, and it hit rear sight onto the concrete. So the rear sight position could have shifted. FYI, Sig has redesigned the retention system on their old cheap holster, so they KNEW they had a problem with the retention on that holster.

My main goal for my next range trip is to determine where the point of impact matches the point of aim with both the JHP and FMJ ammunition that I use. Then I'll have a better idea whether my sights are off or if I can't shoot worth a crap and need to adjust my shooting technique.

On paper my target ammo should have a very similar trajectory to my self defense ammo. We'll see.

Haven,t used a laser type bore sighter but the old style made by several manufactures that resemble a scope with spuds to tighten in bore work great for putting on paper first shot. L & R usually perfect at 25 yds but zero height you,ll need to adjust per your requirments. And use the trick of holding crosshairs tightly on target centr. and moving scope adjustments to bullet hole. Best if done in a shooting vice or at least 2 people to keep gun still. Saves a lot of ammo.
