hey all, I have a winnie model 94 ae that i just mounted a konus 2-7x32 scope on it. My question is which type of laser bore sighting is worth spending the bucks on, should I get the 30-30 cartridge with the laser in it, or is the plunger type that goes in the end of the barrel worth the extra money?
Also what brand do ya'll recommend?

I have the Sight Light SL-100.

I've tried others. The stupid bullet looking ones stink. The SL-100 is the only one that has reasonable accurate and repeatable results. I haven't used the scope leveling bit yet. I test it a few times. Remove the leveler and retest a couple times. But it allmost allways gives repeatble results.

I have sighted in four AR's, 2 with a scope, others with Irons and 1x red dot or both. 3 Glocks I replaced sights on. And 2 Kimbers I replaced sights on.

It's a pain sighting in AR's that have a scope, 1x, and irons. 3 times the fun. This allows me to get all of those really close before I even hit the range.

I also used it to verify that my Dan Wesson Valor was shooting a bit low before I decided to swap the front sight. Wasnt sure if it was me or the pistol until I put the laser in. Someone else shot that pistol dead on, while I was allways low.

It has allways got me on paper at 25 yards with the rifles. Close enough to make sure my mounts were on good and close enough to make final sighting in a breeze. With my pistols, it's results are nearly allways the same as what I see at the range at 10-15 yards.

It's great fo making sure the sights are lined up right on Glocks and Kahrs. Shooters new to those often shoot low and left. But the laser shows them that thier gun is fine, it's their fingers problem.

Have a $40 Cabelas model that slips into the muzzle. It has worked very well on countless firearms for me, from .22's to the 50 BMG.

I have the Laserlyte kit and it works fine for a 25 yard sighting to get on paper for both rifles and handguns. I have a Sight Mark .45ACP cartridge laser for my 1911's that's spot on at 25 yards. The drawback to the cartridge is it wont chamber unless you pull the slide off and drop it in the barrel while turned on, then replace the slide and put it in full lockup. It eats batteries having to do it this way, but it only takes once. The reason it wont chamber is it's considerably longer than a .45ACP cartridge, and has a squared front.
Check them out here... http://sightmark.com/products.html

None of them.
I've found that at best they save you 1 shot on each sight in with a non bolt gun. With bolt rifle none, in fact I've always been closer on the first shot by sighting through the bore.

I have never owned a boresighter. I have helped a few guys sight in rifles that had been boresighted.
In my experience, boresighters are completely worthless.

I was thinking of getting one too

I just put glass on my 22. I'm going to try the old way and look down the barrel at 30 ft. to see if that gets me on paper before I buy a laser.

You can't sight in without putting it on paper. Bore sighter's are of little use, and in my years of experience with customer's who want their scope's bore sighted, they barely get them on the paper at 100 yds. Worthless and unrealiable.

I think ya'll have unrealistic expectations of boresights.

They're to help get your scope on straight with level crosshairs and on paper at 25 yards. Probally an inch off maybe. They are not the complete solution.

You still have to finish sighting in. But where it used to take all day at the range to get a combat carbine perfect, now it is much quicker.

It's a convenience for those who build alot of rifles.

Laser bore sighters are not meant to be the "end all" means of sighting in a firearm. They are meant to get you on paper at 100 yards, that's all.

Who in the world would think that because a firearm is bore sighted with a laser or other means, that it's ready to shoot the X ring out?
