I hunt and target shoot in some very hilly areas and need more than just a rangefinder. Got to play with a friend's Vectronix on his land in the flat-as-a-pancake Texas Panhandle but I think I would have some serious issues with slope (mostly declination) on some of my properties in AZ.

was that a question? :)

i ran the terrapin for a few years and just upgraded to the PLRF-10C this spring. works fantastic.

I'm looking for a laser rangefinder that also measures declination. I was hoping that some forum members might be aware of such things and have suggestions.

It looks like my buddy has the PLRF10 and the 10C does everything I need (and more). Where did you get yours and how much? I've seen them over $6k. My friend said he got his 10 for $1800.

Not much help here, as I've got one, but haven't played with it much since I got it (and lent it to a friend also in the market).

I got the Leupold RX-1000i TBR/w DNA Laser Rangefinder.

Don't know how prices run these days, but I paid $355.55 just over a year ago.

I have one of their old RX II Laser Rangefinders - I went ahead and got the angle measurement feature on the new one - the new one also has a lighted display (red) which I find nice in low light - my old one was strictly the old gray LED readout, which could be a bit tricky in low light.
I also splurged for the extra range on the new one.

i got mine from ashbury precision. you need the 10c (c=compass). i think $4500-5000 is the going rate. if he paid $1800, it probably fell off a truck or he got very very lucky from someone who didn't know what they had.

that leupold looks pretty cool. didn't know they had one with those features. not bad at all. the distance isn't much, but for that price tag, you can't complain.

Just spoke to him. He has the 05 (aka Terrapin) not the 10.

the type of paint on that target may make a big difference
