Laser sight recommendation for an XD?

My father's been looking for a rail-mount laser sight for his XD Service in .40S&W. He's under the impression that Springfield has a special model (or has contracted out an official laser sight), but I can't find that mentioned anywhere else, and it appears to just have a standard Picatinny.

So that said - is he right about the official XD laser, and if not, who makes the best rail-mount laser now, under ~$200?

xd does have a light package. like the gear package. they have a 9mm light package. you get a xml light that goes on the rail. no laser though. its made by insight technology. i think they also make light/laser combo

i have a xd 45acp. thinking of putting the streamlight tlr series light/laser combo under it. usualy cost 200 to 300. depending on store.

The TLR-1 (flashlight only) at $129, or the TLR-2 (flashlight and laser combo)
at $289 fits the Springfield XD's really well. I have the TLR-1 on my 4" service
model XD-.45ACP, that I use for my home D' handgun~!

Lasermax also has a universal Picatinny rail system low profile laser they're offering for $189. Very light weight and has a rail molded into itself so you can mount a light on the laser. They also offer an internal laser that replaces the guide rod, but want a very princely sum of $399 for it. I don't have any experience with either model, so I can't give a recommendation.
