I have a Springfield XD-9 4" version with standard sights, and have been thinking about upgrading to night sights. Has anyone done it? Is it a do-it-yourself job and doesn't require any "special tools", or are they pretty tight in there and visit to a smith maybe a better idea? Which sight did/would you go with? Does anybody have experience with AmeriGlo night sights (not necessarily on XD)? How's their quality? Thanks in advance for your help.
Alex.

I have NO idea about outfitting night sights on the XD. I do know that it's a pretty safe bet that if you get something compatible for a SIG, then you'll be fine. But as far as the details of installation, I'm a bit in the dark on it. It's an accessory I intend to get for my XD eventually, but its not something I'm going to immediately concern myself over.

Heinie Site are da bomb

If you need nite sites, you need to check out Heinie's Slant Pro Straight Eights....

Go to www.heinie.com and go to "Whats new".

Best Fixed sights going!

Heinie don't seem to have sights for XD. They do have two different Sig sight models, so I guess one of them (which one?) should fit on XD as per post above. However, I prefer 3-dot sights instead of straight 8 setup. AmeriGlo was all I could find in 3-dot XD design.

When the XD's were introduced, a big deal was made of their sights being essentially SIG copies. I'd verify that w/ Springfield 1st, but I'd go w/ the SIG compatible sights.
I've had some really good luck w/ Trijicons, so I recommend them when asked ;)

Go over to the hs2000 xd talk forum and search around. There's been a lot of discussion about this and there's a lot of info available. The sights can be a real bear to remove even if you move them in the proper direction but it can be done.

good luck
