I screwed up first thread so I'll try agin.
Crimson Trace Laser Grips. Are they a worthwhile addition to a firearm or just another expensive do-dad to play with? I have been thinking of trying them on one of my carry guns to hopefully improve shooting in low light situations (its tough getting old) but am a little reluctant to lay out the cash for something that isn't worth spit. While we're on subject of laser sights how about the internal lasers for 1911's and other autoloaders.
I'd like to hear any comments. Good,Bad or Indifferent.

Do a search on here for Crimson Trace . This subject has been hottly debated on here numerous times. It's almost as vicious as an AR vs. AK or 9mm vs. .45 debate.

Personally, I think they are a great tool. However, they are only a tool, not a wunder tool. If you do get a set, spend an equal amount of time training using iron sights. Remember, Murphy is a mudderf^$%*r, and the one time you need your gun is the one time the batteries will be dead.

I really like my lasergrips. They are instinctual (in that they activate by my regular grip), they are accurate (one ragged hole at 25 yards with my 686), and they don't mess with my regular sights or holster.

Also, they are invaluable for dry-fire practice, as you can see the dot move when you move or flinch. People always complain that "the dot moves all over the place," but don't realize that it's because their muzzle is moving all over the place.

The grips are also more comfortable than the stock grips that came on my smith, dead-on reliable, and from what I'm told, the batteries last for years of regular use (I've had a pair for over a year and they are still going strong). And even then, if the laser goes, you've still got your irons. In fact, I think that my shooting with my irons has improved from practice with the laser, just like shooting with your weak hand improves yur strong hand, and vice versa.

As for the price, they are expensive, but can be found for a lot less than retail at places like www.ultout.com.

Advertisement over. :uhoh: :D

I don't care for them, but you'll get better input by reading and possibly resurrecting an older thread. Good luck.

The CT’s are well worth the money and you can usually find them for a good price if you search awhile. I’ve had a pair on my Sp101 for over a year now and just put a set on my S&W 642. Wouldn’t be without the CT’s on my snubbies.
