This idea has been kicking around in my head for years but now I know there is technology for putting a small led laser in a snap cap. Just before posting this I did a google and found this site that seems like work in progress.

http://www.lasersnapcaps.com/

Is there anyone else out there with a developed product? I'm thinking that a snap cap with a laser activated by the firing pin that emits a brief pulse at an indoor target would be a good training tool. Our eyes have that property of persistence so a brief pulse against a target would be seen even if it is short.

For those that learned shooting in the Marines, think about how you were trained to call your shots.

Thanks,

Thanks for a pointer to another firm. Have you used it or is your googlefu much stronger than mine tonight?

How much do they cost and how long do they last? I dont feel like giving them my life story to find out.

Lasting "1000's" isnt real awe inspiring either, 1,000,000's would be better. :)

Give some people a million bucks and they would complain it's to bulky to carry.

Cool product, it would be even cooler if they posted prices! I'd pony up for a decent product like that (for a reasonable price), seems like it would add a lot of value to dry fire practice.

Laserlyte has a couple of trainers here.

No experience with 'em-once considered but as they were new at the time, I figured I'd give 'em some time-just never got back around to 'em.

I do have one of their laser bore sighters, but no experience with their trainers.

Daisy used to make them, believe it or not... still got the 38/357 set around here somewhere... "QuickSkill" I think, wife bought it for me a few decades ago... worked, ate button batteries like crazy, six batteries a set, one in each snap cap
came w/ a small battery operated flash-n-beep target that will also flash-n-beep w/ a TV remote (but you really did have to be on target with the infrared bullets for a HIT)
infrared, not laser, of course... doubtless much cheaper to do than lasers
I paid $330 for the NIB S&W 66 about a year before that, and I would guess she paid well under $100 for the Daisy thingy next Christmas, mebbe 25 (?) years ago

the laserlyte modestly priced version works quite well, insert in muzzle (fits nearly flush), hammer strike on any snap cap (or just dry fire) triggers a laser momentary flash, very visible indoors.. mine one fits 38/357/9mm/380
made a bit delicate, be real careful w/ those aluminum threads when changing button batteries, too easy to cross thread (a ball point pen with pushbutton end real handy for inserting a fresh battery also)
eats batteries fast, but gets a lot of fires per battery, couple thousand
it's just that when doing fast DA practice, it's amazing how fast you can do a couple thousand rounds rapid fire DA, no reloading you know, ~60 rounds a minute real easy
(buy batteries bulk on line, not wallyworld)

I ain't selling 'em, but here be the gizmo, they do various caliber insert sizes
(I do like it better than my Daisy set, which hasn't been used in many years now)

I see they are going to also offer a target now... me, I would pass on that, no need at all for it
