Its very uncomforting that everbody missed so much. No I don't want people to get shot but I CERTAINLY don't want bullets flying at innocent people and causing collateral damage......

No one injured in Chili's shoot-out

Click photo to enlarge«1»FARMINGTON — An apparent gang-related argument inside Chili's on East Main Street on Thursday night escalated into a parking lot shootout, the sheriff's office said. No one was injured.
At least 11 rounds were fired in the incident, including one shot from a Farmington Police officer who had been eating at the restaurant with an officer-in-training and witnessed the shootout, sheriff's Capt. Jim Smith said.

"So far, we haven't had any indication of injury," he said.

The shots were exchanged between at least three men standing outside a silver Daewoo Legacy, and at least two others outside an unidentified white vehicle nearly 20 feet away around 7:30 p.m.

As Farmington officer Jared Stock approached the scene and identified himself as police, one of the men standing outside the Daewoo pointed a weapon towards the officer, and Stock fired a single shot that missed, Smith said.

"Given a circumstance when there's deadly forced being used and the probability of somebody getting injured or killed, it's reasonable to use

whatever force is necessary to protect the public or that officer," Smith said.
Following the police involvement, both cars attempted to flee the scene, but a passenger of the silver car was hit as his vehicle escaped. The man left behind was arrested at the scene.

The Daewoo was later found parked nearby on Gila Street, riddled with bullet holes. Two other suspects from that vehicle were located and arrested in the vicinity.

Although the unidentified white vehicle has not been located, the sheriff's office believes it has one of its passengers in custody.

Two uninvolved vehicles in the Chili's parking lot were hit by stray bullets, which required the crime scene to rope off more than two dozen vehicles as potential evidence, which prevented some drivers from leaving the crime scene. The scene was being processed past midnight.

Because a Farmington Police officer was involved in the incident, the crime was investigated by the sheriff's office while Farmington officers assisted with the scene and conducted an internal use of force investigation of the shot the city officer fired.

The identities of those arrested were not available at press time.

Wow, just wow.

That's what happens when people use real ammunition instead of Internet keyboard commando ammunition.

The Internet stuff never misses, which could be why its corps of commandos say things like "The average gun fight only takes three rounds" and "If I need more than five shots I'm in trouble."

I don't want to brag but when I'm at the keyboard it never takes me more than one shot to fell an entire army of attackers.

Sounds like me... and I'm pretty sure we both practice that technique a lot! ;)

Is it me or is it lawful to shoot an a fleeing vehicle?

Maybe that's the best way to I.D. the missing car.

That's what happens when you hold your Glock sideways to aim.

They must not have had these installed.

My gut reaction to this story is perhaps not "High Road", but I couldn't help but find this story hilarious. The fact that my brain decided to cast Leslie Nielson as the police officer is what I believe to be to blame for my immaturity.

Incredibly lucky and grateful that nobody was injured, I hope "retaliation" doesn't occur. That was certainly an altercation which, as it ended up, didn't necessarily have to be so loud.

At least 11 rounds were fired in the incident, including one shot from a Farmington Police officer.....
The shots were exchanged between at least three men standing outside.....
Farmington officer Jared Stock (snip) fired a single shot that missed
11 rounds (at least) fired .... 1 by a policemen who missed .... 10 by 3 others.
Which means one bad guy fired only 1 more than his allotted 3 rounds. What a greedy dude.

One thing that I find interesting is that the story first says:
No one was injured
.... Then later says:
but a passenger of the silver car was hit as his vehicle escaped
"Hit" but not injured? "Hit" by what? A car, a bullet?
I also find it kind of sensationalist reporting that there were only "At least 11 rounds" fired (one of which missed) yet "the Daewoo was later found parked nearby on Gila Street, riddled with bullet holes". Riddled? I think of the St. Valentines Day when I think of "riddled". If the policeman missed and at least one of the shooters was not shooting at his own car (Daewoo), then "riddled" would only be 9 holes at the most. A short game of golf, but a fair stretch of journalistic license to say "riddled"....IMO. :)

look, handguns are weak, short range impliments. It doesn't suprise me at all that in the stress of the moment most shots miss.

That's why we have rifles. And that's why we have proper capactiy magazines.

Haha, indeed. At least there weren't any "high-powered assault rifles" involved, such as a semi-automatic Ruger 10/22.

Most of the shots apparently didn't miss...they riddled that poor Daewoo.
Perhaps this was actually a group of KIA salesmen out to get their rival Daewoo dealer? :what:

Only eleven shots fired? That is a relatively low number and in most gun incidents most shots miss. When people talk about over penetration they forget about all the shots that don't hit the target.

I for one am glad that criminals don't, hopefully, get much range time.
You could add to the advert: with these sight you don' need ta' practice.

"Is it me or is it lawful to shoot an a fleeing vehicle?"

its you. you need to read the article more carefully
