New Hampshire: House to Vote on Bill Restricting Self-Defense

Senator Chris Murphy Introduces Smart Gun Legislation icon-external-link.png

Anti-gun politicians in the 116th Congress have no shortage of ideas when it comes to different ways of threatening the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners in America. The misnomer phrase “common sense gun safety” includes misguided and ineffective policies such as requiring background checks to purchase ammunition or requiring so-called “smart gun” technology despite the slew of unanswered questions that experts have posed about the reliability of the unproven technology.

Living in La-La Land: Joe Biden’s Alternative Reality

Anti-gun folks typically characterize their gun control restrictions as “common sense” and “responsible,” regardless of how poorly grounded in reality these “solutions” tend to be, or how little their proponents understand what these measures will do (like the gun control supporters at one event who, when asked, were unable to explain what an AR-15 or a bumpstock is).

The paper, published in Conservation Letters and prepared by researchers at Oregon State University, attacks what the authors term “trophy hunting.”

Bloomberg’s Killjoys Target Fourth of July Fireworks

In a July 3, 1776 letter to his wife Abigail, founding father John Adams wrote about how Independence Day should be celebrated. Adams explained, I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.

Yet like most sources of what passes as “news” or “journalism” these days, these “independent” organizations have knowledge deficits and outright biases that color the information they provide to the public. Take, for example, Politifact’s assertion that a gun ban is not a gun ban if there are still guns left to be banned.

Just try to remember not to confuse what you see on your screen with real life.

USFWS Says Free NRA Hunter Ed Course Counts As P-R Match Dollars

Fairfax, Va.—Underscoring the NRA’s $3 million investment in hunting’s future in creating the most comprehensive, free online hunter education program nationwide, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) announced state wildlife agencies now may claim a dollar value of the NRA’s Free Online Hunter Education Course as in-kind match dollars to access federal Pittman-Robertson (P-R) grant funds. The move marks a major win for the NRA and state wildlife agencies, which rely on the P-R dollars administered by the USFWS’ Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration (WSFR) Division for their fish and wildlife conservation programs, and is a giant step forward in bolstering states’ hunter recruitment efforts and the national NRA-backed R3 movement (Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation).

New Jersey’s New “Smart Gun” Law is a Disaster in the Making icon-external-link.png

As soon as New Jersey’s new Democratic governor, Phil Murphy, arrived in office he began working with the Democratic majority in the legislature to pass onerous gun control laws. Not satisfied with that effort, he’s now rolled out a new package of legislation along the same lines, referring to it as “Gun Safety Package 2.0.” One of the chief elements of this new legislation deals with so-called “smart guns” and mandates regarding their availability in the Garden State. Lake Murray burglary calls new gun law into question icon-external-link.png

A burglar who attacked and stabbed a Lake Murray man today during an early-morning confrontation in the victim’s house was fatally shot moments later by the wounded homeowner’s adult son, according to San Diego police. This particular case is leading people to question the logic of the San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliot’s new law that would require gun owners to safely store their guns in either a safe or with a trigger device when not in use.

Gun license gets chilly response icon-external-link.png

More than half of Illinois’ 2,351 federally licensed gun dealers haven’t applied for state licenses required by the new Illinois’ Firearm Dealer License Certification Act, which takes effect today. Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the state’s Firearm Dealer License Certification Act on Jan. 18 after taking office. Lawmakers held the measure over from the previous General Assembly after former Gov. Bruce Rauner vowed to veto it.

Dems Open to Killing Filibuster in Next Congress icon-external-link.png

Democratic leaders are opening the door to eliminating the 60-vote legislative filibuster if they recapture the Senate majority in the 2020 elections. The future of the filibuster has emerged as a divisive topic in the crowded 2020 presidential primary field, which includes a half-dozen Democratic senators.

Levi Strauss Sticking with Gun Control Push Whether Customers Agree or Not icon-external-link.png

Levi Strauss joined hands with the gun control lobby in the Fall of 2018 and is sticking to their guns whether customers agree or not. On September 4, 2018, Breitbart News reported that Levi Strauss was launching a million dollar gun control campaign. This also entailed teaming up with Michael Bloomberg-funded gun control Everytown for Gun Safety, going so far as to provide jeans for actors who appeared in Everytown PSAs.

    LEGAL & LEGISLATION
Oregon: Initiative Filed to Restrict Self-Defense

On July 18th, Initiative Petition 40 was filed in Oregon to restrict the Second Amendment rights of law abiding adults by imposing a broad, one-size-fits-all method of storing firearms. This egregious attack on our freedoms uses virtually the same language as the failed Initiative Petition 44 from 2018 as well as the same provisions from Senate Bill 978 that did not pass during the 2019 legislative session. Anti-gun proponents will stop at nothing to restrict self-defense rights in Oregon, and will be using this initiative petition in an attempt to coerce legislators to pass gun control during the 2020 short session.
