Hi everybody :)

I would like to see what different police agencies use as far as weapons and gear are concerned. Duty belts, holsters, vests, ect. If you have some, don't be afraid to post pictures too ;)

Nice photo's... lol... I am a civilian and carry a revolver. I thought in order to be safe you need 17 round magazines.

Nice setup, and thanks for serving your community.

Most Agencies, surprisingly (or not) go by budget and not what Officer's need, or especially what they [Officer's] want.
Bigger agencies often provide 90% of all gear, leaving out for boots and undies.

Small Sheriff's Office could only give you 3 uniforms and a badge.

I own all of my own personal equipment and prefer to use it, unless mandatory or I know its new equipment. Except cuffs, hate new cuffs. My sets have been cycled about a 1000 times.

Since most equipment is rather standard, what really gets noticed is your style of belt. I prefer the Bianchi Accumold Elite. Nylon for lightweight, leather-look for being squared away without the broken in leather squeaks.

Black nylon is the standard these days, I don't have any complaints, it works great. I have always preferred the classic look of leather with a dull shine.

Boots are another area where most Officer's get to choose whatever they want. I've been issued Danner boots (solely because they were high dollar) and absolutely hated the fit. I ditched them ASAP.

The one thing you shouldn't have on your belt is a cell phone holster. And I'm guilty of doing that.
I'll have to dig up my belts to post some pictures, I have about 3 of them. From various agencies/details.

This is all issued stuff, except the gloves. The helmet and vest as well as an MP5 and a tonfa baton (not pictured in this thread) are also issued to every LEO in this country.

A lot of officers use nylon belts that they bought themselves, but since I'm still in the Police Academy, I'll use what they issue to avoid any hassle... Clothes and boots are also provided.

I would actually prefer a semi-automatic instead of the revolver and don't particularly like our choice of ammo either. A 90 grs .38spl doesn't sound too comforting to me...

I was surprised that Safariland even makes holsters for revolvers, that must be a special order :D

Our duty gear is all Gould and Goodrich Phoenix nylon gear. When the new Sheriff came in a couple of years ago, he replaced our hodgepodge of various leather manufacturers and finishes with the same stuff.

G22 or 23 in a dual retention holster with Remington Golden Sabres in 180gr.
dual mag pouch-my gut means that mine rides left-and-right instead of up and down, but I maintain that I can reload faster this way anyway.
taser crossdraw holster with issue taser and extra cardridge
OC spray holder
keyring
the ability to carry 2 sets of cuffs. I have two single-cuff holders, some guys have the dual-cuff holsters. I don't like that much thickness sticking me in the kidney.
flashlight pouch with a rechargeable stinger (no C- or D- cell flashlights allowed)
we used to carry (and I still have) ASP autoloc batons with the side break scabbard, but aren't allowed to carry them anymore either.

My cell phone goes in the left chest pocket, and my pager in the right epaulet.

We just got all new handcuff cases, as we're transitioning to ASP handcuffs from S&W's. I'm still on the fence about that, as they're larger, but they are lighter. More importantly, from the sheriff's perspective, all of our cuffs will be green, and therefore the guys in the jail will know what is ours and what is the city's (as they buy whatever's cheapest when they need new cuffs).

For gloves, boots, and uniforms, we go down to the guy at the local police supply place, and he gets you what you need and bills the county. I personally love my bates tacticool boots, as they are actually waterproof up to the top, warm, and have a side zipper that hasn't broken in the first 2 months. Gloves are whatever he has in stock. I think mine are 5.11, not sure on that.

Let's see, what else? I buy my own under armor in navy for under the vest (it's original use, kiss my butt NFL). 870's and colt AR's in the cars, once you've qualified with them. Shotgun is mandatory, but rifle is still optional.

Silvanus, is that a retention strap on your OC? Also, congrats on your choice of work. It's fun, stressful, and terrible, all at the same time. And remember, there are some of us that love it so much, we end up doing it for free. Hit me up with any questions if you have them.

Nice spread....but my Chief would have my butt in a sling if I was posting photos of my gear. I will tell you that we carry Sig P-220's, however.
Nice revolver. Sometimes I wish we were issued revolvers instead but the Sig's work well.
All our gear is issued...from helmets, ball caps, jackets, gloves and including the ballistic vest, duty belt and gear, boots, etc.
We don't get paid as much as some of the other guys in the area, but when it comes to vehicles and gear our Chief takes VERY good care of us....all the "new" stuff, updated when needed. He's a really great guy that way.
We are one of the only PD's in the area authorized to carry a backup weapon (ankle, shoulder holster, personal choice, etc.) within policy (must be at least .380 or above caliber) but we need to certify with it just like our duty sidearm.

S&W 620. Yes it's a Safariland.

Cool, you don't see many 620's.
I have to provide my own weapons and gear, although lately I've been able to get the town I work for to reimburse me for more stuff, used to be just ammo. I'm currently waiting on a custom plainclothes rig for my S&W 586 L-Comp, it's being made by Black Hills Leather. Until now I've been just buying what I need at the moment to fit the job, but I finally decided to have a proper rig made just for me that is more appropriate for the work I do and my uniform. Hopefully it'll be done this month, I'll be posting pics when I get it.

We can carry any bug you want, and in any way, so long as it's a glock 27, and its strapped to your ankle. Mag and ammo compatibility is a big deal with the boss. If you think about it, from a departmental standpoint, it does make sense.

What is the ammunition

sorry I could have posted a more detailed description right away. It's MEN Quick Defense1. Some sort of HP with a plastic ball in the hollow cavity.

Yes, there's a retention strap on the OC spray.
