So what are the laws concerning shotguns with detachable mags? (ditching the Benelli Nova idea, thinking about a Saiga-12 now) Assuming one could find a large enough magazine, is there a limit to how many rounds you can hold? This is for range / home defense use, I have no interest in taking this thing hunting, which I know has a definite limit. What about Pistol grips? I remember reading something a long time ago about pistol grips on shotguns being a no-no if a detachable mag is present, but otherwise fine if you have a standard tube-type magazine. I am on the right track, or is that old assault weapons ban stuff that no longer applies?

I'm thinking about buying a Saiga-12, but the ones that are available to me come with just a traditional stock and no pistol grip, which look kinda funky to me. :barf:

Wow, guess all of those weird laws concerning shotguns with detachable mags was assault weapons ban stuff that no longer applies. And lordy, Tromix makes some wild stuff! I think I might end up getting a Tromix gun and/or having mine worked over by Tromix.

One question though, and it wasn't completely clear on their site, does Tromix's work include one of those skeletonized stocks, or just the pistol grip? I wasn't sure...

Although the federal legislation to which you refer has sunset, there may still be state and local regulations on semiautomatic shotugns that you need to follow. Recognize that these laws will vary by state and, in some cases, municipality.

Tony's basic conversion includes US made Pistol grip, folding skeleton stock and fire control parts. his work is top notch and he stands behind it 100%.

Awesome, glad to hear he has a good reputation. Any idea what Tony's approximate turn around time is like? I'm debating whether or not to buy one and then send it in for the conversion or just buy a converted one directly through him.
