Does the LC9 have a magazine safety? If so, is it the same design as the one Ruger uses in the P345?

yes it does. Not sure if it's the same the mag pushes a sliding bar that locks the trigger foward when no mag is present. you can remove it.

Thanks, mavracer. The designs sound different. The P345 magazine safety is a spring-loaded tab that captures the firing pin. What sometimes happens is the mechanism breaks and locks the firing pin, preventing the gun from firing even with a magazine installed. It's a dumb design in an otherwise very reliable pistol. I've removed it from my P345. Since the LC9 is an appealing pocket pistol, I was wondering if I would have to do the same with it should I buy one.

It's fairly easy to remove on the LC9. I did it after the first time I shot it. You can find a couple videos on youtube that will show you how.
