my daughter inlaw just bought a Ruger LCP.380.
i had never seen one before, nice concealed carry gun.
my one concern, when i was looking at it i noticed it has a plastic trigger.
have there been any reports of these breaking or warping?
i know Ruger is a high quality handgun, you can see this in the LCP.380.
but i have never delt with a plastic trigger on a handgun.

Hi-

I've had an lcp since a few months after it was released. Have never had a problem with anything on this gun, much less the trigger.

i didnt think it would give any problems, but i told her i would get on here and ask about it anyway.
thinking about buying one of the LCP9's myself:D.

The LC9 is a much larger gun than the LCP. Not much of a pocket gun.

I thought about getting one until I saw it in person. It's much larger than the Kahr pm9, but granted, still small for a 9mm. I'm sure it performs as well as the LCP. I have a lot of faith in Ruger.

I have just come to the realization that if I can't fit it in my pocket, i'm probably not going to carry it. The LCP in a desantis nemesis pocket holster, can go anywhere.

Now days guns are loaded with plastic parts. Mostly there's no problem.

I have three LCP, two LC9 and one (so far) SR9C Rugers. Ruger makes pretty good guns.

My first LC9 has over 1,700 trouble free rounds through it. This was at least 8 different shooters, including women, firing at least 7 different types of ammo.
Try shooting one before you buy it. It has a small thin grip and does kick a bit. Some shooters liked it, some didn't.

I pocket carry the LC9 when I'm dressed for it.

The LCP and LC9 have long trigger pulls that may take a little getting used to.

The LC9 is accurate. I shoot mine out to 52 yards. Standing. Two hands.

I've had my LCP for about a year now and it has been completely trouble free. No problems with any plastic parts.

Open this LCP owners manual to page #29 for a parts list drawing.

Note part #13 plastic (trigger) has part #14 steel (trigger pin) through it that holds it to part #15 steel (trigger pivot).

The steel pin takes all the force of pulling the trigger and cocking the hammer through the steel trigger pivot.

The plastic trigger is just a shell or cover for it.

The trigger isn't subjected to the forces of firing the gun, just cocking the hammer and your finger pulling on it. Remember that one of this gun's primary design objectives was keeping the price down.
