I picked up a Ruger LCR in 327 today and took it to the range. What a fun gun! I shot some Hornady 80 grain 32 H&R Magnums and Federal Hydra Shok low recoil 85 grain 327 Federal Magnums.

As expected the Hornady 32 H&R were soft shooters, much less recoil than a 38 by my perception. What was surprising was just how controllable the 327 Hydra Shoks were. I was expecting a very stout kick and was instead greeted with recoil that I personally felt was similar to a 125 grain + p 38 from a 442/642 (apples to oranges comparison, both in ammo and firearm, I know). I've no doubt that the tamer grip played some role in that, and obviously a bullet weighing 40 grains less. I'm sure the hotter 327 loads could become unpleasant but this load was very nice.

Now granted, recoil is subjective from person to person, but I could have shot several hundred rounds of the 327 Hydra Shoks if my wallet could support it. I initially thought I'd carry 32 H&R in this gun but my experience with the 327 Federal Hydra Shoks has me reconsidering.

I often see folks with arthritis or other ailments switching to the 32 H&R Magnum, and I can certainly see why. Very comfortable round to shoot, and you get 6 instead of 5 as an added bonus. If I should find myself in a similar situation that's the route I'll go. This was my first experience with .32 caliber rounds and I'm now prepared to get on the bandwaggon.

I love the lcr. I have had the .38 and the 9mm version. The 9mm was a pleasure, but at the end of the day I couldn't sit well with it being a 5 shooter.

I did have a 4" sp101 in .327 that was a great trail gun, but I decided that a 3" gp100 in .357 made more sense in terms of stopping power.

The .327 lcr is on my short list. Shooting 5 different cartridges out of a small 6 shooter appeals to me. It would make for a nice gun for hiking around the well trodden grounds of the cabin. .32 mag for day to day and drop in the .327 when the sun goes down. If anything, the flame out of the barrel would scare off any goblins:D

Honestly I'd love to see a 3" .327 lcrx.

That's similar to how I practice. I shoot 32 H&R at the range and carry a 38. The two guns are almost identical except for the caliber (Charter Undercover 38 and Charter Undercoverette 32 H&R).

I had LCRs in 9mm and 38 at one point. Not sure why I traded the 38 but I ended up getting rid of the 9 because I wasn't a fan of the moon clips. I bent one that I was carrying as a reload in my pocket and decided to stick with traditional revolver rounds that could ride in a speed strip, speed loader, or dump pouch.

It's been several years since I've even handled a LCR but I'm tickled to have another now, particularly with 6 rounds. For whatever reason, 6 rounds feels like a lot more than 5, even though it's just 1 more. This will serve nicely for pocket carry in place of my K6S or j frames. Now I just need to get some speed strips ordered for it. I've already ordered a few hundred extra rounds for target shooting.

And my wife already has her eye on the LCR. I may have to add another to the collection soon... another 327 LCR that is, not another wife. :D

That's what I would be waiting for too. Years ago I had a Rossi Model 88 (think J frame size), stainless with a 3" barrel and an adjustable rear sight that I thought made for a great backwoods trail gun. An LCRx with a 3" barrel in .327 Mag. would be perfect in that role as well.

Bought a LCR in 327 when they first came out. First rounds I shot were the Gold Dot 115 gr and I was not expecting them to be that stout. Decided to back off to .32 S&W Long then worked my way up through .32 H&R Mag then .327 as my accuracy improved. Load it with the Gold Dot's now when I carry it or a mix of .32 Mag Critical Defense & .327 Hydra Shok. I also found that Captech Jamison makes a decent 78 gr. low recoil .327 load.
Would also love to see a LCRx 3" .327.

Do you think the 85 gr Hydra-Shoks have less recoil than 124gr 9mm ?

I thought the 9mm LCR was pretty snappy with Lawman 124gr TMJ.

I was looking to get some PNW Arms 115 gr "Defensive Training" for my LCR because it is on the low end for muzzle energy - 1066 fps / 289 ft/lbs

Its been awhile since shooting the LCR 9mm, so I can't say with certainty. In a revolver, my perception is typically that lighter bullets with higher velocities have lower recoil than heavier bullets with slower velocities. Other folks experience it differently however.

Six shots from a revolver chambered in a potent cartridge vs five is the biggest impetus I have to get an LCR chambered in .327 Federal Magnum. It will be replacing my much loved Colt Cobra for EDC. :(

I've got a Single-7. Really enjoy shooting it. Everything from .32acp(yes, actually) to full power .327's that requires small rifle primers to allow cylinder to turn. But mostly 90-115gr cast bullets over 10gr of #2400. Allows use of small pistol primers, and is superlative accurate.

IF Ruger makes a 3" LCRx, I'll get one.
I just don't want or need a 2" revolver with fixed sights... I've got several already... Besides, it'd have a hard time besting the KelTec K32 I currently carry.

I had the opportunity to put some Black Hills 32 magnum hollow points down range and they were very accurate, just slightly less so than the 32 Hornady CD. I'd love to get some Georgia Arms 85 grain hollow points but they are out of stock. Does anyone know if the 100 grain Georgia Arms Hollow points will open up at snub nose velocities? I'm tempted to get some of those in lieu of the 85 grain.
