Please don't turn this thread into "Glocks-NO LEAD!!"

9mm G34 or other Glocks.
Who has replaced the factory barrel with a barrel to shoot lead or plated bullets?
What barrel works or did your barrel work OK?
A bunch of competition shooters won't shoot lead because of the smoke. Seems lead would be great for practice, plated for competition. I have read some statements that jacketed is almost as cheap as plated. I can't find them. I can get lead 147s for $65.00/1000. FTF.
Plated runs around $90-95.00 + shipping. Montana Gold runs $122.00 including shipping.
Jacketed bullets run about $150.00 up +shipping.

I started into reloading using plated for my G21SF. I was using the factory barrel without any problems. I started using the coated lead bullets (Precision Bullets and Black Bullet Int.) to save money. 1K plated was $130 vs 1K lead for $88. I did buy a LWD Barrel to make clean up easier when using the coated lead as there was still some leading. There was a little smoke with the coated lead, but it was tolerable.

I purchased some Missouri Bullets (lead) to try out and I did not like them. The smoke was awful. I would shoot one shot, then have to wait for the smoke to clear so I could see the target.

I use jacketed for my 9mm reloads. Jacketed is a lot easier to deal with, but lead is cheaper. I am looking at getting a LWD barrel for my G17 so I can start shooting some coated lead to save a little cash. FMJ for serious applications and coated lead for plinking.

I have shot the coated lead bullets in my factory Glock barrel before. It worked fine, but clean up was a PITA.

It seems to be a conservative idea to buy a "common" rifled barrel for lead and/or plated practice. I intend to shoot a lot. If the plated combo shoots accurately and with little smoke, then I would use them in a match.
Shooting a 147 plated bullet and a 147 jacketed bullet would change the dynamics of the pistol. How much? Maybe not enough for the subconscious to recognize. We will find out.
Because of the required PF in IDPA (M I C K E Y) I will use a 13# action spring in conjunction with the 147gr to make just over 851 fps. Without the PF, I would reduce springs, load super soft and use lead.
In competition, I shoot a 105gr over 3.2gr American Select 38 Spl that makes 792fps from my Ruger 3 screw with a 4 5/8" barrel. Woose (works) load.
Thanks members.

Replaced the factory barrel of my Glock 23 with a Lone Wolf replacement barrel. I've shot 400 rounds of Meister Hard Cast 155 gr. bullets without a leading problem. I don't load max loads, usually about halfway between min and max suggested. Good accuracy, low recoil.
