I recently sold/traded my sp101 for a lcp and some mags for my sr556. Now I am sadly missing my wheel gun. The only reason I didn't keep my sp101 is that I could not find a justifiable use for it for me. As I was browsing through some revolvers at the shop the other day I saw a sp101 with engravings all over it. I almost juiced my pants when I saw how beautiful it was. I couldn't justify it thought just because it looks good. But what I can justify is a 4 in barrel on a .357. Has anyone seen a gp100 with those types of engravings on them or a like model? I know I could get them after market. I'm not sold on the gp 101 but I like the look a lot and will be OCing this revolver so it would have to look similar.

I'm certain, that they exist. Though you'll find far more Smith & Wessons and Colts to hold such work. The GP and SP series have been seen as tough no-nonsense revolvers. They're meant to be shot and banged around and keep going for a lifetime. I have OCed and CCWed a 3inch barreled Ruger GP often(they have fixed sights). Its pretty hefty, but doable. A 4inch GP is a solid utility revolver. Good enough for defense, hunting some smaller game, and IDPA.
If your SP was a 3inch model, I'm surprised you sold it. The 3inch ones make great field guns. They got the zip to take out anything that might try to go after you, but a much lower weight than a full sized GP.

We had one of the factory engraved 2" SP-101's in our shop for 2 days. It was looked at by at least 10 people and bought at first glance by a fellow that was a die hard S&W man. He just could not get over the quality of the engraving and asked if there was a possibility that Ruger would produce a GP-100 with similar engraving. I have yet to get an answer from Ruger on this matter. There are however some really fine engravers out there that sould do it for you. Search the forum and you should get a few names.
I have both SP-101 and GP-100's and carry the GP more. I prefer its larger size for recoil and extra round. Mine has the 3" barrel and short shroud.

Yea I am looking for a 4 or 5 in barrel in stainless steel that has a nice clean look to it I would rather buy one that had factory engravings so that I don't have to work with all the crap ruger and other manufactures put on their guns. I think I know how to use an instruction manual without having it perm engraved on the barrel. Any ideas besides the gp would be appreciated.

Here is the sp101 that I saw something like this but even more engraving would be cool.

Hoss:

If I was in your shoes I'd buy a stainless GP-100 (which is a fine, rugged revolver by the way), and polish off the markings that both you and I don't like. There is no law against doing this unless you alter or remove the serial number. That is a big no-no.

Then I would send the gun to an engraver and get the engraving and coverage that I wanted.

That sounds like what I'm gonna have to do. I would like to get two in serials in a row is that fairly easy or would I probobly have to order them together?

They have been known to make consecutive numbered pairs, try a call to Ruger's Customer Service Dept. Also another possibility is Davidson's (www.galleryofguns.com), who are a large Ruger distributor located near the Ruger factory in Prescott, AZ. Expect to pay extra for the matched numbers.
