I put a made for the Marlin limb saver on mine and made a leather lace up cartridge holder. Cost me ~10 and an evening. Came out perfectly serviceable but not in the class of these.
The Limb Saver totally tames the 45 70 and makes it anywhere from "possible to shoot" to quite enjoyable. I have been shooting 405 grain dead soft lead over 49 grains of Varget. That is right on the edge of too much for me. Anything less is a piece of cake.
Levergun leather can make you a piece any way you want and can make a matching sling if you like.
Keep in mind, my covers are not recoil pads. I would put a nice recoil pad on it and then I can make a nice cover and sling to cover it up and match to accent your rifle with some cartridges on the side of the cover.
