Im looking for a leather shell holder butt cuff for my Stevens 311r.

Years ago as a youngster I bought a super tactical black elastic shell holder at wall mart to fit on my tacstar-ed out 870. That thing would just slide around all over the buttstock and never stayed in place.

Now over a decade later (much older and wiser) i'm looking for a nice leather one but want it to stay in place. Any recommendations? I know cowboy action shooting is big these days. Ive been looking at this one:

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, Dan

As I had issues with and saw others have issues with side saddles, I went back to the elastic band type butt cuff.

I have a Mossy 500 Ghost ring with the black plastic stock, I simply screwed my butt sling swivel through the elastic and it now goes no where.

Despite all the criticisms of the elastic cuffs I had had less issues with them than the side saddle. They are cheap enough that they are easy to replace if needed and easy enough to find locally or on line that one can have a replacement in 24 hours.

I think a leather cuff is a great idea and if you can get one you like great!

I saw two come loose. One actually fell off the gun and the other swung down and flapped. I saw two others that during movement or transisitons had shells stripped out to fall on the ground.

In an attempt to keep my own in place, having seen these failures, I tightened up the screw holding the metal plate and as per warning managed to lock up my Mossberg 500 and so got to demonstrate my transition ability with out it being a scheduled event.

The class was only about 14 strong and included federal and state LEOs and Military. Bill Jeans was the instructor.

Other folks on here seem to think I imagined this all.

Ill definitely post some pictures. Might be a month though. I bought a new house 6 months ago and still haven't set up a safe. So the 311r and most of my other guns are down at my parents house for right now.

It is a factory 311r and not a cut down gun. Its in fantastic shape and locks up really tight. Paid $375 for it here locally.

Pictures coming soon, Dan
