Anyone have any eval on the Leatherwood Scopes with the Bullet Drop Compensator that is adjustable between several calibers?
Sounds like a nice and versatile scope?
Anyone happy they have one?
Anyone recommend something else with a multiple caliber BDC? which is the feature i am looking into.

We put one on my BIL's M1A this past weekend and I was impressed. The rangefinding components in the reticle are good and the scope is clear. Leatherwood provides a chart of several specific cartridges to use when setting up the scope.

The rig will most likely get test driven this comming weekend weather permitting. I'll let you know how it works out.

Sorry but I do have a 2nd Generation Leatherwood (bought from the Gubmint) and I finally have a 2nd M-14 (Smith Ent. thanks to one of my co-staffers here) on which it may be mounted. Never played with it yet though.

I do have an ART II which has it's own base on one of my M1A's. It is a very fun scope/rifle combo. On these scopes you had to change the cam to change calibers. With the range ring locked to the power ring you adjust the power until the post on the cross hairs substend 16" iirc.

On this newer scope you can change a setting on a 3rd ring to match the cartridge that you are shooting. The base on the scope fits onto the rail of a Smith or Brookfield type M1A mount or Weaver bases on other rifles.

Hank - what type of base do you have for your ART II? I've got the gubmint 2 screw model that I'm going to use.

Gary, The ART II incorporates an intergral base. I think what you have might be an ART IV. Does your scope have a stadia wire in the reticle?
The Smith 2 screw as you have will serve you well.

Hank - My ART came from DCM & had the two screw base (receiver and clip guide) and the green fibreglass carrying container. See Senich The Long Range War, page 115 for a photo of what my two thumb screw scope mount base and "standard issue" carrying case looks like.

BTW, darn if you're not right about the base being integral too. I never looked that close (or even used that scope yet). I had to buy the clip

Gary, You mean like this correct?

Go on and put it on that spare M1A of yours, you will enjoy it once you get it figured out.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I will be able to give cpileri a report on Monday.
