I've had problems getting my Safety Prime to work properly, and after looking it over, I came up with a solution that's worked so far.

I realized that for the little "PEZ dispenser" to properly mate up to the priming lever, I needed to move the primer feed bracket away from the press horizontally about 1/4". To do this, I just cut a little bit off the bracket for the bolt.

Seems to have fixed the problem!

Had a similar problem with the Load Master. It jammed primers and even flipped them down side up. A call to Lee resulted in nothing only a lot of maybe's. When lookin very closely at the motion of the slider without a case, it seemed the slider was hitting the priming pin when the ram is in the full down position. When I raised the ram just slightly it cleary dropped down tiny bit. Measured about .009" with a depth micrometer.

The primers were hitting the side of the primer pin. .010 inch was carefully ground off before the the slider just cleared the pin surface by about .002". After that no more flipped, canted or upside down primer seating problems. Called Lee and spoke to someone about the issue together with my suggestion as a fix for it. I was told they "would look into it." With the complaints I read from many other reloaders with the identical problem, I would think a solution would be tendered. To my knowledge It never was. They never could admit it's a problem. The pin extends over the sides of the priming arm and touches the bottom part of the frame forcing the pin up about .010"

Even a spec of gunpowder in the primer pin well would cause problems.

Mine stays in the box. I got disgusted with it and prime a couple different ways now. That thing is the only weak link in the LCTP, in my opinion. I prefer to have all my cases pre-primed anyway, rather than doing them as I load them.

Humm, all I had to do is put a thin washer under the priming bracket
to line up with the priming arm. It has been working great 7,000 rounds later.

I tried that earlier, but it still didn't work right for me. Just looking at the geometry of how the two things come together led me to try it another way.

Just like everything else. There are many ways to get the same job done. As long as you got it fixed and it is working great now that's all that matters. Thanks for sharing your fix for the safety prime.

washer worked for me. and a popsicle stick helps the primer arm/ram timing. it is good we share ways to get things working proper.
