Lee Classic Turret: Will I need to lube cases with these dies?

The Lee Classic Turret I purchased came with a 4 die set described as "Includes carbide sizing and factory crimp dies, powder thru expander die, and bullet seating die".

I know carbide dies do not need lubing, so in my case will I have to be concerned with lubing the cases... or since the resizer is carbide (not sure if the rest of the set are) can I bypassing lubricating?

NO. Having said that, I do find that when I am using new Starline cases, a quick minimal shot of lube helps make less effort on the initial resize and keeps the PTED from sticking and making the operation 'jerky.'

I load straight wall pistol cases and if I feel that the deprime stage is a little tough on the up and down stroke I hit the cases with real quick squirt of hornady or frankford arsenal aerosal lube. It probably isn't necessary but it makes them a lot smoother. No reason to make reloading anymore difficult. Just got done loading some 45 acp myself and did the above a liitle goes a long way probably 150-200 rounds. Also you don't have to get all the cases.

If when you're tumbling your brass, you throw in a cap full of Nu Finish car polish, I think you'll find it smooths the operation up enough you won't need lube.

Can that mess the powder inside the case, or is it insignificant amount to be concerned about?

I only lube my 9mm cases, being a tapered case. I use Lee lube and rubbing alcohol mixed in a spray bottle, and spray a few shots in a gallon sized plastic ziplock, add a hundred or so cases, and shake A little goes a long way.

Try szing a non lubed case,and then a very lightly lubed one,You'll be amazed at the difference in the ease of sizing the lubed ones.
I keep a bottle of RCBS case sizing lube...it lasts FOREVER...near the press,and put just a small drop on a finge and rub the finger against another one.I then spin just the case mouth between my fingers on about 10 cases if i"m sizing say 100 cases,and insert one of these cases every 10 th round..give or take.
Sure makes the sizing operation go smoothely,and I do it on single stage or progressive presses.

JMO but it's a waste of time to lube straight walled pistol cases with carbide dies. Like Dave said, use a cap full of Nu Finish polish in your tumbler media and everything will be smooth.

It leaves the cases with a nice polish and a slightly slick feel. Doesn't affect the powder or function of the cartridges in any way. It's probably very similar in makeup to the overpriced stuff Midway, Dillon and other outfits sell for a small fortune for a tiny bottle.

I've been using it for years with great results.

Do you tumble new cases before their first use? ???

I do use NuCar polish in my (crushed walnut) media--but I'd attributed the lubrication effect on my used / tumbled cases to the shooting residue and graphite remaining, not to the NuCar polish. That's because I never lubed my used cases before I started putting in the NuCar.

Seen a few people post they like to lube 9mm. It is a bit of an oddball with a slight taper to the case.

I don't tumble new cases before sizing because the ones I had felt clean and smooth to the touch. They also sized very easy, probably because they are already to spec but I like to size new brass to make sure the mouth is round and without dents. As you can tell I don't have a lot of experience with new brass, my collection is mostly range pick-ups.
