Lee Collet Die - Broke Case Neck

I have a Lee Collet Die in 7mm-08
I neck sized 50 new Winchester Cases today to assure they all had the samre neck tension. With 3 cases left to do, I resized a case and as i was pulling the press arm back up to extract the shell past the internal sizeing ball the case became difficult to extract, in fact in became stuck. I thought thios was odd for a collet die, I gave a good tug up on the press arm and the neck of then case sanpped off. A chunk of ythe brass case is now stuck above the resizing ball inside the collet die. How do you get these collet dies apart. Can the decapping pin assembly be remove from the collect ?:banghead:

How about if you heat the brass up with a soldering iron after you pull the entire thing out of the freezer for 20 minutes.

If the soldering iron will only heat the brass, it should expand faster than the sizing ball.

When my cases are difficult to pull down, I dip each neck in Motor Mica (kind of like using graphite but not as messy).

Worst-case scenario is you need to send it back to Lee.

Would that put you out for a week or two if you had to wait for it to be done right?

Ok ....... took the die apart, figured out if i pulled hard enough, then collet part of the die pulled off over the broken case neck. Then i took a socket to slip over the collet rod and tapped lightly with a hammer on the upper portion of the internal rod guide, this pushed the broken case neck down to the pin end of the collet rod. The bottom edge of the rod seemed to have a slight lip, so i slid the brass case neck up, took some very fine emery cloth and made several pass around the rod. After which the broken brass case slid off with a firm pull. Everything looks still in good condition

Take a look at Woods photos, the Collet die does not have a sizing ball. It has a mandrel that the neck gets squeezed around. You sure it's a Collet Neck die and not a Lee FL die?
