ok so I bought a Lee Deluxe set from a gun show, probably not the greatest idea, it was supposedly new in box, but I can't figure out if I'm missing things, and unfortunately the manual within it doesn't give a parts list, nor does anything else I find on the net.

For instance, there's this little black plastic square that I can't figure out where it belongs. The instructions are very complicated and doesn't go into detail. Is this set supposed to come with the expander die to make the Auto Disk Powder Measure work, or not? If so, I'm missing it.

If I attach the Primer Feed bracket, do I need to find a longer bolt? Or is the bolt that comes with it supposed to be sufficient? All it says is "Install Primer Feed Bracket using washer and longer bolt as pictured. Well... Where's the longer bolt?!

The pictures show one thing, but the parts explain another. I'm racking my brain here trying to figure out all these things. :banghead:

If you're talking about a very small, black rectangle...that's a spare index ratchet that comes with the turret press. And...which normally gets thrown away because the new buyer doesn't know what it is and it sorta' looks like just a scrap of plastic. If this is the part you're referring to, just save it.

Always raise the ram a couple of inches before changing turrets or manually rotating the turret while the indexing rod is installed. Doing so with the ram lowered will destroy the little ratchet and you'll find out why the spare was included.

Dacoda, the square plastic piece you are referring to is is the ratchet for the rod with the twist in it. This is probably a spare part; mine had one already installed in the plastic piece that is attached to the ram. I replaced this piece after something like 3500 rounds. It's $1.99 at Midway. I added them to an order and how have a several spares.

As for the primer feed, I have the Safety Prime and don't remember how the primer feed attaches. The Safety Prime System has been pretty much flawless. The only thing I did to improve it was to add a washer under the bracket where it mounts on the press. The bolt you refer to should be long enough to accomodate the prime. Lastly, if you can't find out what you want/need to know from the people on the forum, call Lee. They are very good about walking people through any problems that arise.

It sounds to me like you have a factory-assembled package--

If that is so, then the longer bolt needed for Safety Prime attachment is probably already in place in that right front post.

There should be a funky-looking washer that will drop on to the top of the Safety Prime.

TIP: The white Safety Prime is for LARGE primers, and the black is for small--make sure use them appropriately, and with the correct primer arm.

The others' advice about the black rectangle is complete. As benzuncle said, do be sure to get a few spares on hand. When I updated my older (standard) Turret, I did mess up the ratchet failsafe (another name for it) a couple of times. And, heed the advice to NOT manually rotate the turret unless the ram is raised.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Sounds like the others covered it very well. The only thing I want to add is if you stop and change directions with the ratchet in the twisted part of the indexing rod that will also shorten the life of the ratchet piece.

Ok, I thank everyone for their help. I really appreciate it. Today I finally picked up a set of dies, .223 and 9mm. I figured out that the Auto-Disk just screws onto the expander die once you screw off the little collar thing that you pour the powder in. It wasn't too hard to figure everything out once I had the dies, cause now the set-up is pretty much complete, only now I'll need to get a Riser so that the Safety Prime doesn't get in the way.

I've always heard good things about Lee, and I can't say that I'm not satisfied with their products, but it woulda been nicer if all this stuff was included. It'd be worth paying the extra few dollars for the set. Instead of trying to find a store that stocks all the things I need to make it all work. On top of all this, I still need the Rifle Charging Die.
