educate me. Got offered a nicely sporterized one on a gun I have listed elsewhere.

Looks like a nice stock, good strong blueing except for a spot of wear on the barrel. Still in 303. Front sight hood is missing. I think that with a stock, bayo, and front sight hood it should be back to original.

What do these go for? I know cock on close.. so what else can you tell me about them I cant read on wikipedia?

#4mk1's were built in 6 different factories. Need the details from the receiver knox to know who and when it was built. Also nee to know if the barrel was cut, so pics are essential.

If it has it's original barrel but had the stock cut back, it may not be as accurate as it once was. The fore-end on these can make or break the accuracy, depending on how well it is done.

If it is a Sporterized No.1, it's stocking-up has more impact on accuracy.

Production was at:

1) ROF Maltby,
2) ROF Fazakerley,
3) BSA Shirley,
4) Longbranch in Canada and
5) Stevens-Savage in Chicopee Falls

What are you calling #6?

It was a mk 4, barrel was uncut. Looked like a fajen stock set.

Ended up turning down the trade.

I have a ruger single six in 32 HR mag listed on a different site he offered it for.

The sixth manufacturer was Ishapore. A close friend and fellow C&R guy has a #4mk1 that has been verified to be a "new" build in the 40's from India. Not a rifle that has been updated with Ishapore parts, and actual complete rifle.

DougW I had a No.4 Mk1 made in Canada man did that thing shoot good had it all original and about 500 rounds of ammo in 2006. Had to sell though had a bad case of divorce how it goes. Great deer rifle and I miss it.

stephen1956, I usually shoot a '43 Fazakerley in Vintage Matches, and I was thinking of taking it to the blind this fall and shooting a doe. Love shooting all my Enfields.
