I am using a lee classic 4 hole turret to load 9mm mbc cast boolits and the Lee Pro Auto Disk to charge the cases with the powder thru expander die.

Looking at getting a Lyman m die to help in seating the boolits straight. Wondering if i can use these in conjunction with eachother. The powder thru expander to charge the case and then the m die to expand the case. I thought about modifying the lee expander plug but i still want to use it for jacketed boolits.

Has anyone tried this and which die did you run first? Did you charge the case first and then use the m die or vice versa.

You can adjust the powder through expander die not to expand if that is what you want. Just set it as they say and back it out a bit more is all. The powder through should still work. I would guess a 1/8 to 1/4 more turn out as turning it in will increase the flare.

I'm going to use a lee 38s&w plug instead of the 9mm plug as a low cost substitute for the M die.

the 9mm plug is not expanding the case enough and is swagging down the lead bullet.

Guys, thx for your help. As always wealth of knowledge and help.

I was too thinking that I should expand with the M die first and then charge the case. I figured that when I charged the case with the expander backed off it may still affect the M die expansion and give an uneven flair which I should be able to back off.

Hopefully I can get to the bench this weekend and prove you all are right.
