Wanted to be able to dial in my charges. For my 9mm load the OEM discs with CFE Pistol made to big of a jump between sizes. I can now print these out and drill the size I need.

Looks good but if you want to "dial in" the charges, using a screw will make it infinitely adjustable instead of drilling multiple holes - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=741988

The top of the block looks textured. Is it compatible with elastomer wiper of the PAD so as to not cause wear? The smooth surface of the Auto Disk can go for several tens of thousands of cycles before replacement is necessary.

I'm trying one of these. So far mixed results. Mostly from the powder clinging to the plastic. With it set for a 5.0gn charge of Unique I get anywhere from 4.2-5.1

LEE Charge bar

EDIT: I had issues at the range yesterday!!!! See my post below about the charge bar

The best I have been able to meter Unique in PAD or the charge bar (even with all the tapping of hopper tricks) has been with .2-.3 gr variance.

With BE-86, which I consider to be modern Unique, I can get less than .1 gr variance.

Have you heard of the new Lee Auto Drum powder measure? Direct replacement for the Auto Disc, and precisely adjustable. Getting high reviews. Gonna have me one soon.

Go to Lee and get the adjustable charge ball and get rid of those disks...you won't regret it

I have one, it does not work well with hand gun loads. You will get a short charge from time to time and I no longer trust it after squibbing a load in my Security Six. Yes still my fault that it happened, not placing the blame on LEE but just don't trust it. The revolver and my hands are fine, I only stuck the round into the barrel about 1/4" from the throat, easy fix.

When I got home from the range I pulled all of those rounds and weighed the charge, the remaining were spot on.

I also ran test samples of throws and 1 out of 25 throws was short, about 75% short of a full throw. I was dropping 4.8gn of Unique into .38spcl with 158gn JSP's. So one of my throws only got a little over 2gn in it! I have not had a heavy load with it, which is good.

For rifle loads, it works better than the double disc but I'm still leery. LEE needs to update the charge bar and they need to warn consumers that handgun loads might be low from time to time.

For now, I'm back to weighing every charge like I should have been doing all along I guess.

Did this mod just last week. Works great. This is one of those easy and fun mods that makes your day.:D

All my stuff is Lee, used the auto disk happily for years. Tried the auto drum, loved it, bought another. Auto disk now sits on the shelf along with its double disk kit and adjustable charge bar. I highly recommend it.

Do I need new riser for the auto drum? Or will my riser for the pro disc work?

I'm not a fan of the pro disc.........

Same riser will work. You don't need anything new to use the auto drum in place of the auto disk. Like I said, I do like the auto disk, but the auto drum is an improvement.

Great job with the 3D printer!, was it hard to make a definition for the printer? I bought blank disks from an ebay seller and drilled my own holes, but is was too tedious trying to get them exactly right. I did what bds and bang! did except that I used a set screw. You might add the set screw to your printed discs so that you can fine tune them.

It is amazing how someone can use something for ages and never have a problem with it yet other people use the same thing and cannot get it to work

Actually I never even tried the disks, went right to the adjustable charge bars to fine tune my loads. Works great for me loading for pistol. Using With Unique Titegroup, W231 and Trail Boss giving very consistent powder drops.

For some 9mm and 380Auto loads that require smaller powder charges, adjustable charge bar was not able to drop consistent small powder charges.

This is where Pro Auto Disk and micro adjust mod really shines (I recommend Pro Auto Disk over regular Auto Disk) - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=741988

Being able to consistently drop small charges down to 1.5 gr for Bullseye, 2.0 gr for W231/HP-38 and 2.5 gr for Titegroup with less than .1 gr variance using a $1 mod is something the adjustable charge bar cannot do. I would like to see adjustable charge bar drop 1.5/2.0 gr of Bullseye/W231/HP-38 consistently.

I have C-H 502 and Dillon powder measures but with modified PAD that still works on fixed volumetric disk principle, I don't have to worry about powder charge drops drifting. ;)

Is this in regard to the adjustable charge bar? Lee states not to use it for small charges. This is due to it's design. It's why they used to produce the MicroDisk kit for the PAD. I'm still using the PAD. I've had horrible results w/ the AutoDrum. Second one works better than the first but it's still inconsistent and leaks.

I think it has to do with consistency and technique. Also do not expect a tool to function beyond its design range. The adjustable charge bar for example is adjustable for rang of 1.6 - .28 cc. Not sure how the accuracy or consistency works out when getting close to those upper and lower limits.

Another thing I have have noticed that there are some people that do not like to admit what that have is not the best or whatever they have is always better than what the other guy has or is using. Interesting to read, remember and watch. Eventually it catches up with them if you keep track of what they say over time in different threads.
