Greetings,

Hmmmm.... Just decapped and resized some 308 with my NEW Lee die.
from the bottom of the shoulder up to the top of the shoulder, all around the case, it marks the case with like hundred of vertical lines (can't explain it better).

It is like the die at that place have not been polished...

Anyone ever got that issue?

I am right now using 600 grit sandpaper and polishing it. It will take a looooooooong time...hehehehe

Thank you

I've seen this to.I just throw the brass in the tumbler and those little lines polish right out.

Greetings,

Is it the die that had the neck polishing step botched?

Thank you
P.S.: Turning turning the sandpaper in the die....

Did you clean the die before you used it? Lee doesn't spend a lot of time doing a final finish.

Greetings,

Yes, I always run some Break-Free CLP and dry it out with paper towels.
Then I put 2-3 drops of lubricant, turn the die to spread the lubricant and then use my good ol' imperial wax.

Every time I am done using a die, I clean it too.

Thank you

If your brass doesn't polish out readily like all those little scratches are in the wax.And the clp in your die didn't break down your resize lube, your die may need polished,Lee dies are famous for needing it.I use 1500 grit to start out and 2000 grit to finish. The only place I have seen these grits are at a N.A.P.A store. You get to heavy handed with 600 grit you will need a new resize die.

Greetings,

Just finished the polishing of the die. I went through 11 squares 1x1 inch that I cut from a larger paper.

There is no longer any scratche...

Thank you

I had those scratches from a Lee .308 die and the case necks split in about 4 places right where the scratches were when fired. I wasn't too happy about it.
