The Classic is cast steel and has an upgraded ram that is hollow through the middle and has provisions to reliably catch spent primers.

The Classic (a misnomer in my book, because the regular turret press has been out a lot longer) is more rugged, although the regular turret press is more than rugged enough. I've had my regular turret press for 10 years and will not spend the money to upgrade now. The Classic did not exist when I got mine, or I would have gone that route.

Both versions use the same turret heads.

I have the pre-Classic "Deluxe" four hole in a kit. I wish Lee had come out with the Classic Turret when I got mine. In the end there is not a big difference - basically the Classic is "stronger" as indicated by swampboy. I also got the Anniversary Kit prior to the Breech Lock Anniversary kit and prior to the Classic Cast. I am happy with my two kits but would rather have the latest and greatest. Love Lee Precision.

I've got a friend that's starting to reload and he went and bought a used original (I think, it has the cast lever) it didn't come with the primer arm, I found one at Midway which I believe is correct, shaped like a "T" with lg.& sm. holders on each arm, can any of you turret owners tell me if that will work, I'd hate to order and find it's the wrong one, thanks.

as said the classic is cast and is stronger with the primers falling through the center of the ram into a tube (which is very handy and neat).

I'm pretty sure that the throw on the classic has a longer throw than the deluxe so it can load long action rifle cartridges such as .30-06.

I load 4 pistol and 4 rifle cartridges on a classic cast Lee turret press, with seperate turrets set up for each and I couldn't be happier with the system.

tunnug, the primer arm you describe looks just like the one that came with my press. I've never used it though. I prime off-press using the Lee Auto Prime.

At Graf & Sons -

Lee Four Hole Turret Press w/ Auto Index $71.99
also referred to as the 'Deluxe' press

Lee Classic Turret Press w/ Steel Linkage/Iron Base $95.99
also Four Hole w/ Auto Index

It looks to me like the difference is, well, it's $24.
Sorry, I just had to.

I picked up the Deluxe Press Kit when I started loading for my 9mm and 380. But I soon tired of chasing runaway spent primers and upgraded to the Classic. It is money well spent.
