Had a LNL AP for 15 years up until this summer, It's a great press if one wants to crank out a large amount of rounds quickly. I however decided it's massive towering size and weight when compared to the LCT were a disadvantage in new more compact man cave digs which necessitates use of a portable reloading bench at this time. If I were to offer suggestion to Hornady on ways to improve the LNL AP, it would be to get rid of the 5th station, I never really felt a need to watch the Powder Cop after setting the press up and confirming drops.

I have been using a LCT press for many years and I have no trouble loading 30-06 ammo on it. The 300 Win Mag is no longer so I'm not sure why your friend had problems.
OP: I would think buying another LCT press would be best in your situation. You already have the dies set up on turrets and know how to use that press. Being in college I'm sure money is tight so buying another Lee will save you a lot if money since you won't need to buy dies and plates. Of course the press costs a lot less too.
Just goes to show how we all perceive our needs differently.
The reason I chose the Hornady LNL over the Dillon 550 was the 5th station. Another is more room between the stations...because it's a larger press

I have 9 presses set up and running. Of these 4 are Dillons the rest are RCBS, Lyman, Co-Ax etc. My little orphan LEE turret is a favorite. I doubt that it would be useful loading .308 brass especially with a small base die. The little press has limited leverage.
