remington makes a left hand youth rifle. i bought one when they first came out in 7-08 and added a recoil pad to increase the lenth of pull and love it. eastbank.
Yes, there are quite a few selections available these days. Far more than when I was first starting to shoot. I'm a lefty & have what I consider to be a good battery of LH specific bolt guns. That being said, what age/size youth are we talking about here? Are we looking for a starter .22, starter light centerfire, or a hunting gun? If the latter, what's the game & conditions?
I'm vertically challenged (5'6") and always buy youth/compact rifles.
Browning x-bolt micro midas, it's a great looker and has nice features, but personally I hated the stock (put my eye way too far above the bore). 12.5" LOP.
TC Dimension is available in left handed versions, and has stock spacers, LOP as short as 12.5". Ugly as sin, but the stock provides nice eye-scope alignment and mine is extremely accurate. This is their multi-caliber rifle.
My favorite is the Weatherby youth model, but that's RH only.
CVA Scout compact is a short single shot available in 243. A single shot should be ambidexterius but I never held one so I don't know.
Savage makes a lady hunter, no idea if it's available in LH.
Once upon a time, a fair amount of time ago, Remmie made the 788 in a leftie version. One of the calibers available was 6mm Remington. The 6mm is everything the .243 wants to be when it grows up. The 6 is based on the 7X57 Mauser case rather than the .308 case of the .243. The problem is finding one, they never were a common gun and they're much rarer nowdays.
Therefore, my first choice would be a Tikka lefty in 6.5 Swede. I'd get the hunter, not the lite. The hunter will be a wood stock & therefore easier to shorten to the correct LOP for her. The caliber is a truly excellent all-rounder for most North American game, it will serve the purposes you've outlined extremely well. It's also known for low recoil, outstanding accuracy, and the ability to kill far beyond what it's diameter suggests. The Tikkas are sweet guns that also have an earned reputation for accuracy.
