Lefthanded double action

I've been waffling between a small revolver such as an LCR or autoloader such as an LCP for occasional pocket carry. Those models are named for size reference only. I'm still wide open on choices as there's a couple gun shows coming up locally and I intend to handle a few of each.

This is my situation. Devout lefthander.
I own various bottom feeders in various calibers but only one revolver, a single action 4 5/8 Blackhawk. I easily drop and reload magazines in the autos and the loading gate for the SA allows me to thumb it open keeping the gun in my shooting hand during a reload.

How do lefties efficiently reload double actions with swing out cylinders? Change hands?

Here's a leftie reload video. His reloads are very fast, and he should've slowed it down and gotten closer. At about 0:20, he talks about "across the strap" rather than thumb thru the cylinder.

I have a leftie friend of mine who reloads with the "thumbs thru" technique. Here, he pushes the cylinder latch forward with his strong (left) thumb, then quickly pushes the cylinder out with his weak thumb, and grabbing the front of the gun with the rest of his weak hand. At this point, he's simultaneously, reaching for a speedloader with his strong hand.

I'm a lefty, but I just shoot a pistol right handed. I know that means wrong handed to you, though.

Check out Charter Arms, they are making some left handed DA revolvers that are mirror images or their "regular" ones.
 
Rightist's switch the gun to the left hand, because it's far easier to stuff little shells in little holes with your strong right hand.

I would think a right-handed revolver would be about ideal for a lefty, as the cylinder would be open to the strong side hand with the weak hand holding it while reloading.

At least that's what my left-handed son tells me.

rcmodel has it right --- being a "lefty" it is easier to load cartridges with the left hand..... Handled the Charter Arms Lefty and it was very awkward after 45 years or so of shooting "normal" revolvers .....
 
Lots of folks think Sam Colt designed the cap & ball revolver for left-handed shooters because the cut for the nipples, and later loading gate was on the wrong side.

I always figured he knew exactly what he was doing for right handed shooters, and you would too if you ever tried to put tiny little caps on nipples with your left hand.

Following that logic, I think Mr. Smith & Mr. Wesson knew exactly what they were doing too by designing a cylinder that swung out the wrong side for right-handers.

It follows that it would work as well for leftys if you have to switch the gun to your weak hand to load it anyway.
