Now proud to say the Mighty MO!
I saw mention of the CAR shooting method http://www.sabretactical.com and have been reading about it on their web page. I was intrigued by the system but instantly noticed that it would be lesser value to those who shoot left-handed as the close to the body hold would result in brass in the face or chest with most weapons.

However, it also occurred to me that this system might actually be more advantageous to left handers if they switch to a right handed shooting stance (provided they can become proficient using the right hand on the trigger), because it puts their strong arm forward for the blocking and grappling maneuvers. Right handers have to use their weak hand in this role. Any thoughts?

I have no experience with CAR, so I can't speak to that.

I am a lefty that chose to shoot righty due to eye dominance.

The thought did occur to me that I might have an tactical advantage using my strong hand for things other than shooting. :) YMMV

We shoot CAR right and left-handed. I have never noticed a disadvantage, while shooting CAR left-handed.

I don't get hit in the face shooting left handed, with CAR. So no, getting hit in the face isn't an issue.

You may not be employing the technique properly though.

I am a CAR Master Instructor and have never had brass hit me in the face or gotten a complaint from any southpaw students. CAR is the only way a lefty behind the wheel of a car can deal with a threat in his window.
