'Ireland'??
I don't know what politicized piece of junk YOU use for a dictionary, but my Webster's says
irony
3.) a combination of circumstances or a result that is the opposite of what is or might be expected of considered appropriate. (an irony that the firehouse burned).

You thread-crapped using 'Sesame St' in an attempt to demean the opinions of others, with which you disagreed. I pointed out the irony of you casting about insinuations of childishness, while espousing a cartoon character for a nom-du-post.

And here your are AGAIN - "without really knowing what it meant", "mistake of thinking that any animated film must automatically " - attempting to put people down for having a different opinion than your own.

Anyone wonders that a 4th grader got suspended 14 days from school because of aiming a chicken-leg at one of his friends saying "boom"?

Is there anyone on this forum, never EVER played "cowboy and indian" or "cop and robber"? You are all suspended for 14 days!

Threatening everything Bush-related is totally ok!

Thought crimes count very heavily when it comes to violating political correctness as defined by so-called "liberals" who, in reality, are nothing else but suppressors.

It's all about gaining power.

rayra, dear,

You're still a bit dodgy on a few things, I see. In your last huffy-puffy post you sputtered:

I pointed out the irony of you casting about insinuations of childishness, while espousing a cartoon character for a nom-du-post.

thereby equating the character whose name I borrow with a children's show. This demonstrates a couple of things:
1. You apparently don't understand that all that is animated isn't for children. If you'd ever seen either of the Golgo-13 anime, you'd never have tried to draw the comparison.
2. You can't manufacture irony our of a false comparison.

Now why don't you just go back to fulminating against "traitors" and other people you'd like to have killed? It's much more your idiom.

If ever there were a person who should have been tried for treason, that would be Timothy McVeigh. Instead, the federal government tried him on federal murder charges.

The federal government has but three things they are empowered to enforce as crimes -- treason, piracy, and counterfeiting. Those are the only three crimes that are mentioned in the Constitution. Where did the federal government get the power to try McVeigh for murder?

I lived in the Denver area and had resigned myself that if I was chosen for the jury pool, I would tell the court that they had exceeded their Constitutional authority and I would not like to be a juror unless he were to be tried for treason.

The murder charges should have been tried in state court in OKLAHOMA not Denver. The people of Oklahoma were cheated out of their justice by a grandstanding federal government bent on showing how tough they are.

McVeigh waged war against the United States and may have conspired to give aid and comfort to her enemies with this man.

For the uninitiated, the man on the left is Jose (The Dirty Bomber) Padilla, currently being held incommunicado under T.H.E. P.A.T.R.I.O.T. A.C.T. He has been denied legal counsel and he has not been charged with any crime.

The man on the right is an artists rendering of John Doe #2 of OKC bombing fame.

rayra, dear,
...dodgy ...huffy-puffy ...fulminating...traitors ...idiom.
Nice baiting.

Nowhere in this thread have I used or implied the word or concept 'treason'. That's YOUR straw-man (towards me).

Like most condescending folks, you've played games with dictionary definitions.
Like all masters of false arguments, you've ascribed to me motivations and characterizations I have NOT expressed.

Take another look at my posts, you sneering fool - I've said NOTHING negative about anime / animation. If fact I enjoy it myself (Robotech).
All I did was point out the irony of your attempted slam on posters in this thread, implying they were childish via the sesame st comparison, while you simultaneously espouse your own delight in childish things.

You've displayed all the classic examples of an inveterate arguer - a trite post expressing disdain of fellow board members, straw man arguments and condemnations of same, applying cookie-cutter personality profiles on scant example, dictionary references - what next, a critique of my spelling and grammar?
You are all Maneuver, and no Substance.

And for the rest of the Federal-Govt-phobes in this thread - considering the actions this immature-anarcho-protester ACTUALLY TOOK, just what lengths would he have to go to, or success would he have to have achieved, before you folks would call him what he is? - or more likely, you'd have cried 'why didn't the gubment DO SOMETHING before the explosion!', or 'the gubment is no good because they couldn't stop him!', or worst of all anti-Fed paranoiac mindsets - 'the gubment LET IT HAPPEN so they could pass the Patriot Act'.

Lets not forget the initial intent of this thread, to illustrate that a self confessed liberal anarchist seems to be treated much more lightly than would be a Right Winger for the same offence. The mere fact that his plot was interrupted before he could execute it does not IMO constitute a mitigating factor in the seriousness of the act. His intent was there and his intentions had been plainly stated.

JPM,

nail hit squarely on head. I have no doubt that this kid is a Walter Mitty of the Left....just like all those Militia boys are Walter Mittys of the Right. But the milita types are treated as some dark threat against freedom itself, while a Leftist is treated like the immature fantasist he is. That indeed is the essence of this story. There is still-and always will be- in this country a willingness to overlook the crimes of the Left while trumpeting those of the Right.

Kid got a dose of reality. Lord willing he'll do some quick growing up because of this and go on to lead a good life. And he COULD have carried through with part or all of his fantasy, even though he didn't fully grasp what he was doing....and then somebody's wife/husband/kid would be dead. So something had to be done, and was.

Apart from the headline on this story (from newsmax with a advert for Coulter's 'Treason' under the story) where is it evident that this kid is a 'leftist'? So he doesn't like Bush, neither do all mainstream Republicans - he just signed the Medicare/aid (?) bill didn't he?

One kid acting alone and stupidly tried for treason? The left getting an easier ride than the right? Adverts for Coulter's 'Treason' on this news story from newsmax? All seems a bit silly to me.

rayra
The bottom line is that I haven't responded to you seriously because I don't take you seriously; or anybody else, for that matter, who starts bellowing treason and calling for executions based on a news article about a disliked politician (Hillary) or the dolt originally referenced in this thread. Dr.Jones had several threads going simulataneously all on the theme "so-and-so is a traitor and should be executed. I promise to take you and DrJones both more seriously when you stop doing such a good imitation of the witch-burning mob from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Did Hillary turn you into a newt, rayra?

care to bet a guinea on whether this kid is a leftist?

Khornet -

Not really willing to lose money on this one. You could well be right. However, there is no mention of his political allegiances, other than that he is an 'anarchist', and many of them don't accept traditional political definitions.

Rayra & Golgo:

Take your fight to PM, so we don't have to listen to you. You've not added much to this discussion, and your argument does not reflect High Road values.
Plus, when aired in public, your posts appear to be written for the public. You make me want to ignore all of your "prosaic" posts.

With all due respect of course.
