Ive looked all over the web for a set of rules for Idaho and Montana that explains a legal way for someone who doesnt have a Concealed Weapons Liscence.

Does anyone here know how a resident of Idaho or Montana can carry a handgun in their car without having a CCW?

Ive got two more questions for you Sam, or anyone else who is reading:

1.How would I go about keeping my firearm clearly visible in my vehicle, but properly secured?

2.My brother is under the age of 21, and he also doesnt have a Concealed weapons lisence. Could he legally open carry his pistol in his truck, or should he carry some sort of long gun? What would be his best option for having a firearm in his truck?

"...under the age of 21..." Your State laws will tell you if he can legally carry at all. Where you actually are matters.

call the state police or office of the attorney general

Johnny ask the current interpretation of the law cause that's all that really matters, conservation officers are up on the firearms in a vehicle laws,in some states you can carry a fully loaded antique firearm concealed legally, because there no laws that pertain to them:cool:

call the state police

No offense to LEOs but I would not ask the police for an interpretation of the law. They often do not know and for the most part lack the training or knowledge to give you very good answers. Further you cannot reasonably rely on what they will tell you so it is of basically no value. It sort of similar to why I wouldn't ask a dental hygienist about oral surgery.

point taken but..........

Leos send cases to prosecutors to get a current interpretation of the law, prosecutors are the top cops above the chief or sherrif, as inexperienced rookies learn the ropes, they learn from their superiors as to what they can BS you with to (maintain order)at all cost, that is why drill sergeants make good cops, its better to ask the cops in person, eye to eye,as I did last deer season, about how to carry my black powder revolver, should I shoot it off at the end of the day into the ground,or de cap the cylinder,he said that decapping was unloading to a muzzle loading firearm,I said I would break it down also, and he said that's fine,I also asked him about deer In the area, and he said there were only beers (ALE) in his neck o the woods,I said no beers till after the hunt, good luck he said have a good one. the Mich. hunting regulations book affirmed his position on the matter. there were a few deer in the area, but 15 years earlier it was a sportsman's paradise with silver dollar sized acorns ,large deer herds,,and flushing grouse every where, mostly coyotes now.

In Montana it is perfectly legal to carry a firearm in a vehicle concealed or visible. Concealed is defined as "partially or wholly covered by clothing". So, under a car seat is legal without a CCW per the definition of concealed.
Also, no CCW is necessary to conceal a weapon when outside of town limits.
