legal carry in Game Refuge

I understand that it might be illegal to carry my weapon in some game refuges. As my wife and I do a fair amount of winter Hiking, I'd like to know how I determine whether the refuge is local or Federal and whether I am legal or not. I really do not like being out in the woods without some protection. My wife and I have come across some strange individuals out in the woods. Not to mention I live in the country and Coyotes and Bears in my yard are not at all uncommon..

I've yet to see a game refuge that didn't have a sign at the main entrance. Name of refuge; owner, whether state or federal; and, commonly, rules and regs about what can or can't be done.

Many state highway maps show game refuges by name. You then merely look for it on Google. And, of course, the pertinent state laws are easily found on the Internet, as are federal laws/rules/regs.
