legal to bring gun models to usa?

I'd like to know if it's legal to buy gun models (reduced about 1/2 the real size) from china and bring it through check-in luggage to NC, usa?

look at pictures, they don't have any bright colored plastic tip at muzzle, is that legal? they don't shoot any projectiles, just metal models to play with/look at

Since they're not real guns, they may fall into similar rules as airsoft guns, etc. IANAL, but it seems that you could. I'm not sure if you'd have to paint them orange before importing or not though.

TSA allows "Realistic Replicas of Firearms" in check-in luggage,

so the remaining unknown is whether NC will allow such Realistic Replicas of Firearms? since we allow even real guns, I don't see why the replicas will be a problem

no, rate about 6.4 to $1, so we are talking about $10+
btw taobao.com is safe, it's huge, china's ebay

This may not be of use but my kid brought me back some 1/5 size replicas of a Beretta 92 and a SW Model 29 from Italy. There was a whole series for collectors. In her checked luggage.

Unless you are being knowingly dishonest, when you declare to the USCS Officers what you have, you are in no way a criminal providing you were honest when asked and stated clearly what ypu were bringing back. That's all--right or wrong AFAIK---that's the deal. This (thank G-d) isn't Mexico where you might be facing decades in prison over a wrong turn if ammo is in your lawful cargo and on your manifest.

This -IS- still the greatest nation ever to exist on Earth; and our government employes the best citizens that it can. Just my .02.

Yeah, get a ruling in writing. I got in a shouting match with customs coming home from Iraq, they confiscated my dummy blue plastic M-9 because it is a 'firearm'.
